Ever wondered what it would be like to go shopping in a kangaroo’s pouch? Or what those birds lined up on the wires are thinking as you walk underneath? Most of the traditional nursery rhymes come from Europe or the United States, but here’s a wonderful collection of original Australian rhymes and poems written by Mark Macleod and set to music by Peter Sullivan.Funny, silly and thoughtful, with an understanding of the different ways young people see the world – sometimes sung and sometimes spoken – these will become your children’s new favourites!

The most well-known English-language nursery rhymes usually come from Great Britain or the United States, and Mark Macleod is out to remedy this with his own collection of original poems with a decidedly Australian bent. Macleod enlists Peter Sullivan to create an exuberant musical atmosphere for his rhymes about wombats, kangaroos, and fish-and-chips holidays. Andrea Lees and Louie Lee Feltrin have a dynamic energy, and their sheer enthusiasm as they sing these new rhymes is persuasive. Macleod's work may be unfamiliar, but children will love these silly and fun rhymes, turning them into classics for the next generation.
