Summary
Sir Philip Gibbs served as one of five official British reporters during the First World War. In this book he relays the experiences of British soldiers and offers a detailed narrative of the events of World War I, while trying to draw broader conclusions about the nature of war and how it can be prevented in the future.

Brilliant
Brilliant eye opener of the human every day side of war. Perfect reminded of why the everyday common man doesn't like getting caught up in leaders bickering. Worth a listen. Maybe we will not all be so eager to go to war of everyone listened to this.

Incredible
This is the best narrative of the first world war I've read to date, man's inhumanity and also his humanity is brought home, brutal, gritty and also very moving, brilliantly narrated, I recommend this book highly.

it's excellent
possibly the best work on WW1 I've ever read/ listened to. Narration is very good on the audio book. This book should be taught in schools and be read by as many people as possible, specially in the current climate when we look like we're all headed for round 3. Truly shocking stuff in places.
