Summary

The Pirate and the Princess

Nora Adams believes she is only a schoolteacher and a poor seaman's widow until the day she inherits a fortune, and her mother sends her to London to deliver a mysterious message to a newly arrived foreign princess - who looks much like Nora. Once Princess Elena receives Nora's missive, she steals Nora's identity and vanishes. Left adrift in unfamiliar waters wearing ill-fitting royal shoes, Nora determinedly sets out in search of the real royal.

Nick Atherton long ago retired from his villainous life of piracy, but he's dragged out of his role as fashionable fribble to protect the princess - or the false princess. Nick would far rather seduce the comely widow, but to do so he must dodge French spies and pursue misbehaving royalty. For the fate of a nation, Devil Nick takes to the high seas again, but will that cost him the only woman he could ever love?

Swashbuckling Romance and intrigue.

This was not my favourite of her books but it may be because I didn’t enjoy the narration.Tried slowing it down to see if it helped to no avail. Had all the usual ingredients of a rollicking good drama.

Entertaining

Enjoyable overall in context of the series, but my least favourite story so far. Just wasn’t as invested in these characters.

What the widow did next! A more appropriate synopsis!

This is a good book, but not as good as the first two. I’m not quite sure why I think so, because the lead characters are very engaging and intrepid. Nora Adam’s is the most mature of the ladies to receive the £1,000 legacy and although she has need of it and plans for it, it is not the focal point of the story, as the others were. In addition, Nick has no need of it.

This is an action/adventure narrative and sadly, those are the activities that don’t really engage with me - nothing against the genre, nor against the telling of the tale. Not quite interesting enough. The princess is gone almost immediately, and the search is quite bland and benign and, quite frankly, I have no idea what she was doing during her absence!

The story wasn’t really about the princess, but given that she was the reason for the tale, her hide and seek activities seemed, ultimately, to be quite pointless!

Enjoyable

The voices are inconsistent and the plot is choppy which makes it hard to follow. I do wish Atherton’s rakish piratey-ness was played up more, because it’s not made clear he’s struggling to contain that part of his past and personality until the end. He just needs more internal conflict. Yet it’s still an enjoyable listen.

excellent

Lovely romance and very exciting adventure. I really can't understand the bad comments.Maybe they want to write another story themselves!?I really loved how the writer explained the creation of this love.I love also how very different each romance is in this series.Something different to expect in each book.Looking forward for the next..

Awful narration

I couldn't get past Chapter 3. The narrator's quasi posh accent and delivery was just too painful.

A Bit Complicated

I was looking forward to listening to this 3rd instalment in this series. So I was disappointed that it was a bit hard to follow, it was complicated. I lost track who was related to who. I did listen till the end but I wanted it to finish.
I'm hoping that the 4th book is a little easier to follow.
