Summary
Two Brits, George and Mark, set off from New York City to explore the back roads of America. In this calamity-ridden travel tale, George sets out in true clichéd fashion to discover the real America.
Throw in plenty of run-ins with the police, rapidly dwindling finances, and Josephine - the worst car in the world - and you have all the ingredients for a classic American road trip. Will George and Mark make it all the way to California?
And then there is Rachel, George's girlfriend, left back in England. Would travelling to the United States without her turn out to be the stupidest decision he had ever made?

super fun trip through America!
One of the most fun travel books I've read/ listened to. It's narrated really well with all the characters given a different little voice!
I'm going on a USA road trip for a couple of weeks soon and will definitely be using the book for reference!!

Lighthearted and enjoyable
I enjoyed this book- it’s light hearted but gives an interesting and well described narrative of travels through small town America.
I am usually a fan of Bill Bryson’s books, and I feel that George Mahood has given him a run for his money in this book.

Best road trip advert!
I was totally absorbed listening to this story. They travel to so many fascinating and obscure places and meet many interesting folks and much drama along the way! It is written in such a witty and easy going style and gave me such itchy feet!

Witty and fun
Great account of his travels across the states, full of wit, fun and extremely quirky situation. Makes you wish you were there alongside George and Josephine.
