Summary

Terry lands at San Francisco International Airport ready to start his new life with Sarah, the American journalist he married after a transatlantic love affair. But Sarah’s a no show. Convinced something terrible has happened, Terry reports Sarah’s disappearance to the sheriff, who shrugs it off as a case of a new bride with cold feet. But then dead women start turning up, all with two things in common: each victim had exposed a scandal just before her death...and all of their names appear on a list written by Sarah. As a journalist, Sarah has revealed her share of scandals, and Terry realizes that she’s not missing - she’s on the run.

As his American dream rapidly descends into a waking nightmare, Terry must plunge headlong into the dark recesses of his new homeland to find Sarah before the killer does. But as he nears the truth about Sarah, he realizes she’s very different from the woman he thought he married.

No Show an excellent read

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It's fast story that keeps you guessing made this so enjoyable. I loved the two main characters Terry and his new friend Oscar.

What other book might you compare No Show to, and why?

I can't compare to any book in particular. I had never heard of this writer but his style is like Linwood Barclay and Harlen Coben.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I like the scene at the start when Terry's new wife did not turn up at the airport. From then on I was gripped.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I listened it 2 days and if maybe I was lucky enough to be on a long flight and had no other distractions I would not have stopped from start to finish.

Any additional comments?

I have more Simon Wood books in my wish list and hope they are as good as this one.

Intriguing mystery/thriller with a twist

I was hooked from the start, the story gained tension and suspense, enhanced by an excellent narrator, as it evolved. It was quite refreshing, for a change, not to have graphic descriptions of blood and gore. Lots of intrigue and illicit dealings added to the storyline.
I loved the interaction and developing relationship between Terry and Oscar and how they bounced off each other.
The ending twist was totally unexpected and very sad for Terry but also showed how twisted some relationships could get although it was left to the reader’s imagination as to the Sheriff’s true intentions.
Looking forward to more Terry and Oscar.

An Entertaining Listen

Luke Daniels is one of my favourite narrator's and he really made the audio version fun. As a Brit, I feel LD did a decent enough job with the English accent (Although it was a slightly 1940's version!)
The story wasn't anything ground-breaking, or new, but I enjoyed the tale over 2 evenings with a pile of Scooby Snacks and drinks!

Don't bother

Weak storyline, terrible English accent in narration, Oscar character sounds ten years old. Won't read another book by this author.
