About this listen

In this exhilarating thriller from four million copy bestselling author Mark Edwards, Aidan’s spent years looking for his sister. Will he ever find her?

Two years ago, on a trip to Seattle to visit her brother Aidan, fifteen-year-old Scarlett vanished into thin air. After years of false leads and dead ends, Aidan has almost given up hope. But then a woman sees a girl running for her life across a forest clearing in Northern California. She is convinced the girl is the missing Scarlett. But could it really be her?

Heading south, Aidan finds a fire-ravaged town covered in missing-teenager posters. The locals seem afraid, the police won’t answer any questions and it looks like another dead end—until a chance meeting with returned local Lana gives Aidan his first clue. But as they piece together what happened, Lana and Aidan make deadly enemies. Enemies willing to do anything to silence them.

Only one thing matters now: finding Scarlett—even if it kills him.

Have to say, in my opinion, that this is my favourite Mark Edwards book . Certainly one of his best. 5 Star.

Action thriller

An elderly woman on a train glances through the window and sees a young woman being chased across a field. She identifies the girl as Scarlett Faith, a teenager who went missing two years ago while visiting her brother Aidan in Seattle. Aidan decides to investigate.

This is a bit different to Mark Edwards usual psychological thrillers and is more of an action thriller as Aiden tries to California to find hisi sister, whilst being chased by some proper baddies! I really liked the character of Aidan but loved Lana! It is a fast, entertaining read, and I loved the climate change aspect of the plot.

I enjoyed the narration by Will M Watt.

Time Running Out

This seems to be a departure from the usual Mark Edwards books and more like a crime caper than the thought provoking stories he writes. I think this one would be better read as a physical book than listen to an audio version as I kept having to go back to check out who was who and none of the characters really stood out to me. I guessed how it would end before I got to it, so although I got it right, I was quite disappointed.

A really thoughtful thriller

I was swept up in this saga about ecoterrorism in California, a real change of setting for Mark Edwards but told in his usual taut, compelling style. Highly recommended.

My least favourite Mark Edwards novel

Marks weakest novel to date imo. Too much of a deviation in style. there is a lot of building up to not much. There aren't really many twists and turns like his previous novels which makes the story quite generic. if you liked his previous novels you might be quite disappointed by this one.

Irritating

Good story and overall narrator was good apart from an irritating habit of missing the t or s from the end of some words.
