A great and gripping read.

Loved it and kept me enthralled to the end
with images created and suspense

A bit slow and terrible accents

I found it slow and couldn't wait for it to be over. I couldn't get close to any character. The narrators voice was OK but monotone at some points. The German accent was more french and made it confusing between that and the French accent. At times it was more gripping but mostly a light quick read. The description of visual things was good though. I could imagine being in the water with them etc

An audible page turner

Well narrated by Scarlett Mack, this tale is one of mystery and suspense that kept me awake through intrigue.

Perhaps the previous reviewer doesn’t like a Scottish accent, as Mack’s diction is clear and easily understood. I personally find it refreshing to hear.

The story itself moves back and forth between two main timelines, undulating on the waves of a nautical tale as told by the main protagonist.

Don’t expect to fall in love with any of the characters, but instead be attracted to their alternative lifestyle on board The Blue and how they ended up in the situation they did.

A decent listen.

after The Hike....

...this was a bit of a let down, maybe because I'm not a fan of open water but definitely no where near as good as other books

Not as good as her others

Lucy Clarke is a capable writer & storyteller but this dragged mainly because I couldn’t get behind any of the characters. The narrator had a lovely voice but some accents were inconsistent

Light, but gripping and visual story, poorly read.

An intriguing format and an undemanding but involving storyline. Beautiful scenes and interesting characters. Unfortunately the quality of the writing is undermined by a narrator who frequently forgets what nationality the characters are, swapping French for German accents with an irritating lack of attention. How does an editor let this pass? Really sloppy work by narrator and publisher.

Good lightweight holiday listen

This is a bit silly but overall I enjoyed the voyage on the Blue. I wasn’t looking for anything challenging so it fitted the bill.
It kept my attention and I was engaged by the characters. It was well read too.

Very slow

Monotone performance and dodgy accents - very slow storyline, unable to got to grips with anyone’s character - gave up after an hour or two. Not for me.

poor narration

sadly the poor narration caused me to return this book. the narrators speech was not clear, words sounded like they were running into each other.
