About this listen
A star-studded cast of readers presents unabridged tales of horror and suspense from master storyteller Stephen King.
The Stephen King Amusement Park - an unnerving experience, with rides every which way to hell...and a few to glory.
A solitary finger pokes out of a drain. Novelty teeth turn predatory. The Nevada desert swallows a Cadillac. Meanwhile, the legend of Castle Rock returns...and grows on you. What does it all mean? What else could it mean? Stephen King is here with a powerful collection of stories - a vast, many-chambered cave of a volume.
The long reach of Stephen King's imagination will take you on a roller coaster to places you've never been before. You will lose sleep. But Stephen King, writing to beat the devil, will do your dreaming for you.
This edition includes an introduction read by Stephen King plus 'Suffer the Children' read by Whoopi Goldberg, 'Crouch End' read by Tim Curry, 'Rainy Season' read by Rob Lowe and more.

Totally immersive writing
Upon initial contact with these short stories in book form many years ago I was struck by how immersive and seductive Kings writing could be, From the chills I got from something as simple as his explanation of Time in My Pretty Pony to the horrific images conjured up in the Night Flyer. Having these tails told by these well known Narrators and King himself has brought back my love for this book. Absolutely Fantastic

A good mixed bunch, but with some sound issues
There's a good variety of stories in this anthology, not just horror. The narration is really good, with the exception of `Crouch End'. The narration isn't great, which is surprising considering its the awesome Tim Curry. The accents are a bit off, and he gets a character name wrong.
The biggest issue is the sound though. There's a 'ghost' recording in the background' which sounds as though they've recorded this version on to a tape of an older version, and you can still hear the older version faintly in the gaps between narration. Its not massively off-putting, but once you notice it you can't nor hear it.
Overall, still a very enjoyable book though.

Could not finish
The audio froze about half way through the collection, and about half way through a story. I could not get it to continue past this point. The ones I was able to listen to were more fun than scares, but on the whole quite entertaining.

Great story telling from the King!
Classic Stephen King. It’s always a pleasure to listen to Stephen King’s books and this one is narrated by a variety of people. I like reading Stephen’s short stories because it’s a bit like dipping into a box of chocolates. Each one is different but they are all linked by his excellent storytelling. I’m not sure how this collection passed me by the first time but I enjoyed it years after release (and it was an extremely long audiobook!)
My only complaint is the awful snippets of music between stories - they serve no purpose and detracted from the book

Enjoyed some, not so much others
Overall I enjoyed this anthology. Some stories were better than others, but that's to be expected. The music is bloody awful though and 100% unnecessary, and really takes you out of the story

Good mixture
Enjoyed this collection
Strangely enjoyed the “Head Down” essay and although King liked “Umney’s last case” it was the one I enjoyed the least

Story good, pointless music!
Love the stories, I read them first time round so I’m revisiting my childhood. The music pieces however drowned out the narration every time, so annoying!

Nightmares and dreamscapes
I enjoyed most of the stories and narrations and didn’t find the intro music too distracting it was only at the start of the story and occasionally between chapters I skipped the last one as it was about baseball something I know nothing about or care to and I found it boring
