Summary

She’d do anything for her boy....

Vanessa Sawyer knows all about pain. She’s felt it every day since marrying the boy who fathered her baby in high school. All he’s meant are broken bones, broken heart and broken dreams. But he also brought her the love of her life. When her son, Wren, was born, her baby boy was her salvation.

Vanessa watches Wren grow and become a young man she can be proud of. Until one night everything changes, including Wren. One night that her son refuses to speak of. Now, Vanessa can’t rest, not until she uncovers the secret that her son has been hiding from her.

Will she find the answers she’s searching for, or will her quest for the truth take her to a dark place where all hope is lost?

One evil act. One tragedy. Lives destroyed forever.

Heart-pounding and unforgettable, Kirsty Ferguson has written the perfect novel for all fans of B. A. Paris and Adele Parks.

Brilliant narration

Not sure if I loved this book or not. I felt as if I’d read two books. Maybe a bit long? The narrators voice was so easy to listen to.

No !!!

The ending was shocking and I can’t say too much without giving it away. I felt so angry with the Vanessa for hiding what went on.

Gripping

A thriller of a storyline, gets you right to the very end. And whilst the story is sad and very sensitive, it’s written in a beautiful way. Would highly recommend.

What a twist

The ending honestly shocked me. No way you could’ve seen it coming. Got very annoyed at Vanessa during the mourning stage but wowww

Never tell

This book really got down to the issues of physical, and mental abuse , teenage peer pressure and bullying .It made me think of the women who are going through this and have been through it .

Disturbing but a really good listen

Really enjoyed this book. It is pretty brutal and difficult to listen to in places, but I was hooked. Great story although I did feel like shaking the main character at times.

Gripping, I felt every emotion

I could see this being made into an ITV drama. I loved this book and felt so many emotions. However, I felt the ending was weak and rushed there was no conclusion no consequence
The audio was beautiful. I’d recommend you listen.

Beware!

Although well written & beautifully narrated I don't think this book is appropriate for anyone who is feeling low or negative about life. There aren't many highs so it certainly doesn't offer escapism from a bad day. Please take care that you're in a good place before reading/listening.

frustrating

this book is the most frustrating book I've listened to. So many times I wanted to give up but I kept going thinking the story will get better, it didn't. The writing is good but the story is just so dark and depressing. The ending was awful, I won't give it away but I wanted to throw Alexa, had I been reading a book I probably would have.
I gave three stars because the writing is good, otherwise I wouldn't have felt so strongly about the characters.
I actually got frustrated so many times with the lead female character Vanessa. I wanted to shake her.
Great writing, depressing book.
