Summary
Neferata Book 2.
With her kingdom surrounded by enemies on all sides, the Blood Queen Neferata must call upon all of her cunning and guile if she is to maintain her rulership.... Fortunately, those qualities are not in short supply....
Listen to it because: Explore the terrifying wiles of the Mortarch of Blood in a novel that pushes her to her limits as enemies gather both within and without her undying empire.
The story: Neferata is besieged. To the east, the daemon prince Graunos gathers the legions of the Blood God, seeking to tear the Mortarch from her throne. To the south, Sigmar’s storm heralds the coming of the Anvils of the Heldenhammer, intent on pressing the God-King’s claim. All the while, an ancient enemy grows, hidden within Neferata’s lands. Never has her power seemed so fragile. But, within the dominion of bones, the Mortarch of Blood controls all, and even the champions of the Dark Gods will find themselves puppets in her schemes.
Written by David Annandale. Narrated by Emma Gregory.

The great strategist
Enjoyed the story and loved how manipulative and cunning Neferata was portrayed. Even though it made sense the reader was female, found her male or deamon voices hard to listen to... however felt she captured Neferata and her subjects very well!

Love it!
This is the first full Black Library novel I have started and finished within a week! It follows my favourite character of course being Neferata, and and adds so much depth to her as well as others characters in Age of Sigmar.

A good story, better narrator.
The story was pretty good, but seemed like the conclusion was over in an instant. The narrator was really good, a really enjoyable Warhammer book.

A clash of strategic interplay
It's a novelty for me to see Khornate lords act with such competent strategy and consideration. They direct their rage in a fashion that benefits them most. Seeing Neferata be surprised by a development is always enjoyable, as she usually has everything planned in advance. The figure of her surprise goads her curiosity and potentially a fond semi-attachment. The vocal flexibility of the narrator adds extra value to this intriguing story.
