About this listen
The narcissist cannot help but be a negativist. Most of his life was taken away from him by someone else who was domineering, over-protective, smothering, aloof, depressed, or self-indulgent. His mother or his father didn't think to teach him much of anything. He feels deprived at being sent out in the world, completely unprepared as to how to go about much of anything.
The narcissist is a negativist because he dislikes his perceived inability to control the "play" that he is a part of. He wants to be the director. He wants to be the hero in his own story. He is living in his own psychosis, and he wishes to share his psychosis with everyone else around him. He grew up longing to find his place in the world once he left home, but he sadly feels adrift in the adult world. It is nothing like he imagined it would be when he fantasized about the wonderful life he would have once he left the controlling environment of his parents.
The narcissist never wants to learn that he is just one person in a vast sea of people. He doesn't want to take into consideration that the other people on the planet have their own thoughts, opinions, and feelings. He believes his own thoughts and opinions to be of utmost importance, and thus nothing else matters to him.
