Summary

Nana is 33, Ghanaian, highly educated in the US, cosmopolitan, and worldly. She is successful in all things except love and honors her family's wishes to enter an arranged marriage. She hides from friends that she is returning to become the third wife of a crown prince. The bushwoman is the prince's aunt and lives in the family village by the traditional ways and speaks only the village dialect. The drama starts when Nana has to spend four weeks with the bushwoman. Life with the bushwoman is filled with surprises that blend traditional with modern means to educate Nana on life, love health, family, and sisterhood. With wisdom, versatility, and greatness, this beautifully veiled health message crosses cultural and generational lines to guide Nana and the listeners in how best to "seize all of life's blessings and live".

Critic reviews

"I am moved by the gentleness of the stories of women told by the men who love them. We as women understand the power of the village of the sisterhood; it protects in ways that allow for the maturation of our true selves. Breast cancer robs of some yet offers an opportunity for the strength of the village to be realized for those who remain in its care. Thanks for sharing this truth." (Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, president, Morehouse School of Medicine)

"I really enjoyed it, it was a fun read.... I like the Afrocentricity of the story and the underlying theme of breast cancer prevention and awareness." (Dr. Oliver Brooks 119th Pres. NMA)

"Excellent piece! This work speaks clearly to the need for understanding among people family and friends...and reinforces our collective responsibility to care for one another" (Dr. Rahn Kennedy Bailey, 113th president, NMA)
