No one loves and quarrels, desires and deceives as boldly or brilliantly as Greek gods and goddesses.

Editor reviews
From beloved author and commentator Stephen Fry comes a deep and riveting exploration of some of the greatest myths ever told. In Mythos, Fry recounts some of the most compelling stories in mythology — from classic favourites to lesser known myths they definitely didn’t cover in your childhood classroom.
It’s no secret that Stephen Fry is a masterful storyteller: he’s one of the most well-known and beloved writers, actors, comedians and presenters of our time. He takes the performance skills he honed on programs like Fry and Laurie and the authorial chops he mastered writing gems including The Stars' Tennis Balls, Making History, The Hippopotamus, and The Liar to craft this educational, entertaining and electrifying work that makes ancient tales more relevant and exciting than ever.

Fry the great storyteller
What a wonderfully written book. God's, nymphs, monsters of Greek mythology brought up to date and told, as only Steven Fry can.
Wonderful, very enjoyable. I shall miss this masterly story telling on my daily dog walks.

Brilliant book!
Very good book. Enjoyed every minute. A couple of annoying editing errors (repeated lines or obvious alt takes left in) but these are few (4?)
Just get it. It fun.

Missing some of the more well known stories
This was great but during the book I was getting excited about hearing about the more famous myths of Hercules, Perseus, Jason etc. That said perhaps he wanted to highlight the lesser known very ancient myths, and those that shine a light on the human condition more than the rock star heroes of Hercules etc. I think he should do another at some point. Maybe a Radio series?

Great retelling of timeless tales.
A really good and accessible retelling of the greek myths. This is the perfect book to start with for greek mythology. The book was initially received with some negativity for not including further stories from greek myth however this has been rectified now with heros and troy being released. Read/listen to all three you wont be disappointed!
As for the myths contained they are as relevant now as they were thousands of years ago. They speak a truth to us down the ages that reminds us that those who came before us in the depths of time were the same insecure and frail creatures as we are.

at once diverting and relatable
this book was bought to get me through a long surgery recovery. instead, it got me through the sorrowfully lonesome lockdown commutes.
15 hours was not enough. will be getting Heroes ASAP.

Simply brilliant! More please!
I now know this book better than myself!
I listened to it first through interest, then it’s my go to if I can’t sleep.
Mr, (deserves a Knighthood in my mind), Fry in an indescribably superb narrator. I would say the best,
He could bring a telephone directory to life.
His wit alone, throughout, deserves applause, standing of course.
The stories/myths are wonderful, colourful and full of life.
Please Mr, (why haven’t you been knighted yet?), Fry, give us more.
And yes, I have listened to his others, reviews are the same.
Get it, listen, but be careful, this is addicting!

Fantastic and gripping from start to finish
Stephen Fry as usual has you totally gripped with his usual charm and wit in a brilliant attempt at bringing some sort of order and guidance to a subject that has always confused and baffled me at the best of times. I would highly recommend!

Great Performance by Fry
Stephen fry seems to have the perfect voice for audio books. He does a great job at voicing his own work, which is equally as brilliant.
