Guided by Sian, a former Guardian with his own troubled past, and Giles, a loyal and resourceful blue fox, Jake learns that courage alone might not be enough to face the trials ahead. Betrayals lurk around every corner, from the mysterious Bensarat, an Eidetic with his own agenda, to the spirit of a disgraced Guardian whose malevolent presence threatens to consume the Kingdom entirely.
