Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
On Thursday 9th October, Michelle Hadaway's worst fears came true. After watching her daughter Karen playing in the neighbour's garden with her best friend Nicola, Michelle returned to cook dinner for her family. Unbeknownst to her, this would be the last time she would ever see Karen alive.
In the following days and months, shocking details would come to light about the nature of Karen and Nicola's murders, and the case which had come to be known as 'the Babes in the Wood murders' would lead to one of the most infamous and cruellest miscarriages of justice in British history.
For decades, Michelle fought tirelessly to bring justice to her daughter's murder, shining light on countless police failings and media manipulations in the process. Finally, in 2018 after 32 years of suffering, Russell Bishop, the man Michelle had long known to be guilty, was sentenced in court.
This is the story of two stolen lives, of the long road to justice, but most of all the story of a mother's love and determination.

Such strength
We all know the dreadful events of what happened that night, but wow, the honesty and depth of this book is incredible. How this woman has carried on through everything that has happened is something else. There is no erasing of uncomfortable issues within this book, it's laid out for all to see. I found it a compelling read and nearly cheered out loud when Bishop was finally brought to justice (even though we knew that anyway). Not always an easy read, but the honesty and strength of her shines through. The best part of 35 years fighting for her girl. Now that is something !

Heartbreaking
Heartbreaking to listen to. But Karen‘s mum speaks with such love & is so open , through all the heartbreaks that she suffered after losing Karen, she was never side tracked from getting justice for her daughter. And the way she speaks about Rachel. I think one of the brave is little girls I’ve ever read about..

Lost for words- what a amazing woman and a true fighter. This is a book of real life -I am totally lost for words
I have no words . I grow up in the same street as Karen and Nicola and use to see them out playing . I was 17 years old at the time . I have read so many true life books before but this book is just so inspirational - from the beginning to the end . What these two families have suffered over so many years is just so awful but I now hope you find some peace .I hope this book will hopefully heal others that have and maybe are going through a similar situation- just goes
to show that you should never give up and fight for justice. Michelle you are truly a amazing person with such a fantastic supportive family behind you. May you now enjoy your children- grandchildren and now a great grandmother. Xxx

The Bravest Lady
The most moving, well written, well narrated book I’ve ever listened to. I don’t cry normally but I was in tears at the end. Thank you for sharing your story Michelle Hadaway, you’re an inspiration.
