Summary

My FAB Years is a definitive 'behind the scenes history' of the great British sci-fi television and films of the late '50s, '60s, and '70s - shows like Supercar, Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, and Joe 90, all featuring the cast of puppet characters brought to life in 'Supermarionation' - the brain child of the Gerry & Sylvia Anderson winning team.

The new audio version of Sylvia’s best-selling book is written and read by her, giving a personal touch to her very personal story.

Drab not FAB

This could have been an excellent insight to the team that brought us Thunderbirds, Stingray, Captain Scarlet, and the rest, but whereas the written word might hold your attention this audiobook has poor production values which distract from listening. Anderson's delivery is flat (odd considering her love of actors and own acting credentials) but even if I could overlook this I cannot forgive the poor quality of the production. It sounds like someone has given Anderson a cheap digital recorder and allowed her to record the book at home. I could hear the gaps (off putting digital silence) where it has been edited and even hear the hard drive on the recorder spinning up at intervals.

I would advise the publishers to re-recorded this in a proper studio and coach Sylvia Anderson to give a more passionate narration of which I am sure she is capable.
