Really interesting audiobook

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The story was interesting and kept me engaged. Main character in my opinion was done very well. Narration was very well done. Special effects made listening even more delightful.

Interesting start to a New Saga

Liking this story as although it might be a bit cheesy to begin with at the start bit Secret Agent James Bond feel i soon warmed up to it.
This is wholly due to the main character Grady, narration by Edward James Beesley helps this Gentleman Spy/ agent persona and if the galaxy feels likes its a bit british then it kinda suits the feel of the story.
As Grady reveals hidden truths and a past thats seems to be darker than first assumed you feel safe in that calm, collected manner that he affects and be jove he shall do the right thing.
An interesting set of characters is the AI personas he comes across which offer some light hearted relief and is a nice touch.
I don't do spoilers but i will be keeping an eye on the next episode.
I requested this audio for free and have chosen to leave an honest review and as such is my own opinion.

Secret agent in space.

The story has great pacing and the characters are well written. Action, mystery and a dash of war keep the plot moving forward. I had a great time listen to this. The interactions between the characters are well done. The setting is mostly a standard space bases sci-fi with a few of its own unique bits added in.

The narration is good, clear and easy to listen too. Each character is given a unique voice with both distinct personally and emotion. The narrator does a great job keeping the action tense and the story engaging. The background sound effects they use are done just right, enough to add to the listing experience and not disturb or pull you away from the story.

All in all well worth a listen. I hope they do a book two.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

You are not welcome here.

Grady is a Mutant Hunter, one of, if not the, best. But he had also been used as a spy. Now he was to become a full agent with total A.W. access powers. Tensions in the Clone Worlds are increasing and he is sent back to the Arco sector where resources have been discovered on a planet where possible indigenous life had also been found and other hunters sent to illegally clear the planet of them. Things are going to get tricky ...

Set in the complex politics of the Clone Worlds, an introductory session at the beginning, repeated again at the end, brings the reader a résumé of the background situation and political and business bodies which had power within, as well as a brief history of the universe as it now existed. If there is a criticism of the text, it is the frequent use of the initial letters of these numerous groups. The complexity can make the story alliances confusing initially.
That aside, the story is intriguing, fast paced and action filled with unexpected twists to add savour. The ideas, too, are thought provoking.

Narrator, Edward James Beesley, reads clearly with good intonation and expression, his character voicings individual and reasonable although not always properly representative - his male and female characters all having a similar timbre. Behind his narration, throughout the book, is a softly playing ambient sound track, too quiet to disrupt the speech but sufficient to bring a welcome sense of place. It is a well executed and clever idea which really enhances the overall experience.

Although I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next, it was not (for this reader, at least) an easy listen, demanding concentration throughout and I found myself repeating several sections after losing track of some plot situations. But ultimately this was worthwhile. My thanks to the rights holder of Mutant Hunter who freely gifted me a copy, at my request, via Audiobook Boom. It was a full and satisfying read. Thank you.
