Summary

"Everyone looked up to the senator,

And he mentored so many people.

A few knew about his mistress,

And even his illegitimate daughter.

But no one knew his ultimate secret.

A secret that would only be revealed when he died,

But death did come a little sooner than expected."

Kelly’s son Cash is running for the Oregon Senate with the blessing of Senator Johnson. But when the senator dies, long-held secrets come out, even some about people who were threatening to blackmail him. And was he really murdered? Could it have been suicide?

Only his wife knows, but she’s become mentally incapacitated. Kelly and Mike never planned to get involved in this case, but sometimes, you just have to do the right thing.

An inspirational, pause-resisting cozy mystery that will leave you with a smile on your face, a tear on your cheek, and a belief in your fellow men.

The author is a USA Today best-selling author and Amazon All-Star.

Politicians and murder

I enjoyed this book. Most of the book was over before the murder happened but I thought this worked well because it gave the author plenty of time to introduce you to the suspects and there motives for wanting the senator dead. Like normal there was plenty of suspects to keep you guessing and each gave you his or her perspective. There did seem to be a lot of people who felt there only option left was murder of someone who seemed to be a nice guy but good for the listener as it made for an interesting story. The mystery was good and and played out well as each suspect was eliminated until only one possible answer was left.. Despite the death and the sad subject I liked the out come of the story, if only they had talked to each other earlier.
Kelly’s son, Cash, is running for the Oregon Senate with the blessing of Senator Johnson who is standing down at the next election did to cancer. Unfortunately he doesn't make it. Was it suicide or did someone else pull the trigger on the gun? The day before the senator death Roxie introduced her friend to Kelly. She needs Kelly's advice it seems she had been seeing the senator despite him being married and he was being blackmailed by at least two people over his affair with her. One was by his step daughter jealous that she wasn't entitled to any money from his will and the other was a high powered fixer that wanted him to vote a certain way. Could one of them have killed him? As Kelly, Mike and Cash look into the death they find out that they were by far not the only ones that wanted him dead. Can they find the killer and bring him or her to justice?
I liked the narrator she does a good job with the voices and even gave one of the characters a Scottish accent.
