Summary

In Leafy Hollow, mysteries are always in season...

Verity Hawkes can hardly remember her reclusive past. She's actually starting to enjoy her role as the small town's resident gardener and unofficial super sleuth. Her blossoming relationship with a dreamy local detective certainly doesn't hurt matters. But Verity can't help but question her place in town when a group of kidnappers steal away a beloved citizen and single her out to handle the ransom.

After the deal goes south, it's clear to the Leafy Hollow gardener that larger forces are at play. Between dealing with a rogue agent, a meddling ex-boyfriend, and an underground Botox clinic, she knows that nothing is as it seems. To dig up the conspiracy, Verity may just have to get her hands dirty.

Muddy Waters is the fourth installment in a series of charmingly funny cozy mysteries. If you like picturesque Canadian villages, endearingly weird characters, and high-stakes whodunnits, then you'll love Rickie Blair's Leafy Hollow series.

Put on your welly boots and enjoy this fun book

I really enjoyed this book. I did have to check that there are going to be more in the series and it wasn't the last one. Phew there is, which this listener is eagerly waiting for. As you can tell I am really enjoying this series and this book is no exception. They are stand alone books but I would highly recommend you start with book one and work you way through them all. In fact I did recommended them to my mum who is currently in the process of listening them. What I love, is the characters and the mystery surrounding the aunt's disappearance, which a little bit more gets revealed with each book. The mysteries are fun and full of twists and quirky goings on that are bound to make you smile if not laugh out loud. I hope the author has plenty more story lines because I can't get enough of them and can't wait to see what new twist there is in store for Verity and her friends.
When the local retailer is kidnapped in broad day light Verity has no choice but get involved when they ask her to make the drop. Playing at amateur sleigh never prepared her for this job and she has no idea why she was chosen. Then things go wrong and the money goes missing and Verity and her boyfriend come under suspicion. But it is not until the kidnapped victim turns up safe and well that things get really bizarre for Verity. What is going on? Was it all a hoax or a well planned and executed misdirection? And what does control have to do with it? Or her aunt? Can Verity finally track down her aunt or will an ex boyfriend put a spanner in the works? There is more at stake this time round than just catching a killer.
I really like the narrator and hope she plans to stick with the series, she does a really good job with making the characters come to life.

Another brilliant Read, or listen, Book 4

I must admit to being a little nervous about reading book 4 in the leafy hollow mysteries series, after all, the first 3 books had been so good, so exciting, and so much fun that I wondered if Rickie Blair could write anything as good. I needn't have been concerned. As always, almost from the outset the flaky funny amateur investigator that is Verity Hawks, yanks the reader in my the nose and leads us up the proverbial garden path and into situations that twist and turn quite out of control it seems. But all is never what it seems.
I love the Author's writing style and in this book she and the rather excellent Narrator, Petrea Burchard, bring to life once more Miss Hawk's adventures in Leafy Hollow.
Right, I'm off to read the next one!

Cozy Mystery with a twist

I have read the other books in this series, so I thought I knew what to expect but the author really surprised me in this book. I thought I knew who did it then the author would drop a twist that I did not see coming. A while later, I thought I knew who did it then she would drop another bombshell. Even the main character who usually figures out who don it didn't this time.
This has to be my favourite out of all the books in the series.
I would recommend you read it in order to get a better understanding in what is going on with the main character and those she knows.
The relationship between Verity and the local detective intensifies in this one.
Would highly recommend this to those who love cozy mysteries with humour.

Muddy waters

I’m unsure wether I enjoyed it. I just wished Verity was a bit more assertive.
