Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Mrs Quinn is . . . 77 years old

. . . a devoted wife

. . . a talented home baker

. . . about to become a household name

Jennifer Quinn has a secret. Her love of baking has just won her a spot as a contestant on a primetime TV show. It's only the second time in fifty-nine years that she's kept something from her beloved husband Bernard.

She's about to be whisked into an unfamiliar world of cameras, timed challenges and celebrity judges. She could be in with a chance of being crowned the best baker in Britain.

But, as Mrs Quinn's quiet ambitions turn into unexpected stardom, the other secret she's been keeping is in danger of resurfacing. It was supposed to stay hidden forever.

Will Mrs Quinn rise to the challenge? Or, will her success become a recipe for disaster?

The importance of love and kindness

The author Olivia, writes a beautiful story, woven with such passion and read by Juliet with such credible richness, equally passionate. The book is superb.

Beautiful story

Juliet Stevenson is my favourite narrator. Olivia Ford has written an unusual love story with cake as a bonus. Thoroughly enjoyed this book

Beautifully written

I could almost taste and smell the bakes and could definitely imagine the kitchen. Jenny's pain made me choke with sadness and her happiness filled my heart in equal measures. I look forward to Olivia's next book..

Joy and pathos

The subject dare I say , apparently mundane but turned into magical simplicity read with totally empathetic reading,by ‘her holiness’ the blessed Juliet Stevenson , and one senses the author, Olivia Ford has put her heart and soul into it, a very complete story, with a proper ending, non of this unresolved suspension, so you have to buy the next book . Highly recommended listen.

Perfect comfort listen

Just loved this! Mrs Quinn’s long buried secret reveals itself and lies nicely alongside ‘real time’. A good reminder of how it was in the not so distant past and how past events shape who we all are. Brilliantly narrated and such a lovely story. I was definitely cheering Jenny on! A real treat.

Wonderful

Wonderful novel, wonderful narration. Juliet Stevenson brought the characters to life from the very first chapter. I loved the recipe chapters, the memories, the back and forth. And it is so true how family recipes are passed from generation to generation! What a great book. I’m not a baker, but I am almost tempted to start!
