About this listen
In a Regency England where magic and faeries are real...
Fitzwilliam Darcy is a powerful magician who controls fire, water, and wind. What he cannot control is his growing feelings for Miss Elizabeth Bennet.
Elizabeth's sentiments towards Darcy are quite different. She detests his arrogance, and she fears he will expose her use of forbidden magic - forbidden to women, that is. He is the last man in the world she would choose to help her on a difficult and dangerous task.
But when a magical war looms between the land of Faerie and their world, a Lord of Faerie demands that Darcy and Elizabeth serve together as his emissaries to make peace with the other mortals. That mission throws them into the middle of a chaotic power struggle between magicians whose power dwarfs their own, and everything Elizabeth has ever believed about her family, her friends, and her enemies will be called into question.

A good re-imagining!
This was an enjoyable story that stayed true to the original but didn’t stick to it too closely. In particular the majority of the story centred around many characters that don’t get much air time in p&p with comparatively little time spent with the Bennetts. Some choices in terms of characters for a redemption/villain arc that were quite unique too. Would recommend to any romantasy readers and Austen fans

Better than I expected
I really enjoyed the tale which had the essence from the original with a wonderful magical twist.

Big fan of pride and predudice… fan of this too!
Don’t k ow what other reviews are on about about poor accents ruining the story? Yes, the accents are not the best but it doesn’t ruin the story! If anything I wish they’d started the story earlier! It’s a good, long listen, interesting twist and enjoyable enough!

Interesting idea, but reads like a first draft.
Way too long winded. Literally hours of unnecessary hyperbole. I jumped a couple of hours when I was two thirds the way through and had no trouble picking up the story. Needed much more editing. The narration was OK, I quite liked the soft accents for the Fae, but the cut glass accent chosen for the main human characters lacked subtlety and grated after a while. Wouldn't go as far as calling it a waste of a credit, but it came pretty close.

Highly Enjoyable
The ‘plumy’ accent and the Irish for the fey worked for me. Plenty of twists and a good premise.

Pride and Prejudice explained!
I really liked the reasons given for why the people were as they were. Mrs Bennetts silliness, Anne's shyness , lady Catherine's nastiness and of course, Mr Bennetts smothering toadiness.

Really average
I was vaguely invested in the story at the start but after 10 hours other books in my library were calling to me. It's just a bit boring and life's too short for boring. Glad I didn't pay for it, thank you Plus Catalogue 👍

True to the original while creating a fabulous new world.
Retaining the essential truths of Austen's characters this author has woven a new world full of magic, intrigue and nuance. Throughout the story we learn new truths of characters that fit what we already know while adding interest and painting this world not only in colour, but with a kaleidoscope of bright colours, highlights and shadows.
Occasionally the plot jumps are slightly jarring and the ending will be considered twee by some when the author tidies up most storylines as happily ever after as Austen did, but I would quickly purchase and read a sequel if found.

Lovely gentle fantasy
Much enjoyed this alternative version of this story. Not usually a fan of fantasy novels, this one kept me returning to it time and time again.
