Summary

When her family situation worsens, Aileas Douglas runs away, but she’s unprepared for the Wyoming mountains. A friendly dog leads her to safety, but his master just might pose the most dangerous of all, especially to her heart.

Wounded in the Civil War and deserted by his betrothed, Ian MacGregor becomes a recluse in a remote cabin in Wyoming Territory. He thinks Aileas might be an angel when she appears beside his sickbed, but even later, he’s drawn to her in ways he doesn’t understand.

However, no woman would ever be interested in him now, and he needs to protect himself from another heartbreak, but is this even possible where Aileas is concerned?

JCH never disappoints!

I know if I am ever in the mood for a great historical Christian romance JCH never disappoints I have even read her contemporary romance us and I’m never unhappy with the results. This story is definitely included in that statement although it is part of the theories it can be read as a standalone. She likes to keep you waiting for the romance but it is always so worth waiting for love her books and highly recommend this one! I also thought the narrator did a pretty good job I wasn’t his biggest fan in the beginning but his voice is one of the ones I have come to depend on when listening to this authors books. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Wonderful love story!

I know when I pick up a Janice Cole Hopkins book, I am in for a treat! This one is especially fun as it features a bit of an adventure! Aileas has a dangerous home life. Her stepbrother wants her and now her father has agreed to their marriage. What can she do? Run away is the best option, and that is what she does. But where will she go? Finding a cabin in the snow, with the help of a dog, she is safe, warm and has food. But what else does she have? Ian has lived in this cabin, away from the public hiding his scar. Now sick and delirious, he is going to freeze to death. Thank God Aileas has come. But he knows she will never stay. Will she? This story is sweet and their slow burning love is beautiful. I love that Hopkins threads in some suspense as danger does lurk, giving the book a great bit to sink your teeth into. It's inspirational, and shows what true love really is. I loved it!

Douglas Birk is a new to me narrator and he is great as he brings this story to life. Adding that bit of humor at times, fear, frustration, flirting, and love is evident in each scene as he tells the story. He gives the air of danger when needed, building the story up and left me in the end with a warm heart.
