About this listen

I'm Griffin Reed - cutthroat entrepreneur and competitive bastard. Trust is a four-letter word, and everyone is disposable...except Britta Stone. Three years ago she was my everything before I stupidly threw her away. I thought I'd paid for my sin in misery - until I learned we have a son. Finding out she's engaged to a bore who's rushing her to the altar pisses me off even more. I intend to win her back and raise our boy. I'll have to get ruthless, of course. Luckily that's one of my most singular talents. Sixty days. That's what I'm asking the gritty, independent single mother to give me - 24/7. Under my roof. And, if I have my way, in my bed. Britta says she wants nothing to do with me. But her body language and passionate kisses make her a liar. Now all I have to do is coax her into surrendering to the old magic between us. Once I have her right where I want her, I'll do whatever it takes to prove I more than need her.

Contains mature themes.

Ok to pass the time

Not as good as the first in this series. Griff, though somehow redeemed and excused in the end, spends most of his time being a manipulative coercive controller. Even though one can expect this sort of thing in this genre and it somehow can work, here it just felt too extreme. And calling the fiancé names throughout as if he’s a bad guy, was desperately immature. I found the main female character of book one charming until she took on the role of best friend in this book and became overly meddling. Christian Fox is a wonderful narrator except that he often reads quite dodgy characters and therefore he can’t quite keep that out of his voice. A bit like Ryan Gosling, who, while sexy af plays such questionable characters that you feel quite icky at times.
The last chapter in both this book and book 1 are from the point of view of the women, which means you finish with Christian’s sexy voice as male main character turning into the voice of the female love interest. I couldn’t help feeling that this felt odd and finished the story on a peculiar note. Maybe it works better as a read book rather than a heard book. Despite all of my petty criticisms (including the mispronunciation of eschew and libido), it was a good enough continuation in the collection and I will listen to part 3 next. (I gave 5 stars to book 1)
