Summary
Will is in Bristol for a brand-new start. He’s got his outrageous flatmate, Emma, his job at the bookshop and he’s totally infatuated with Gus. A French Bulldog. An actual relationship with an actual man seems about as real as the science fiction novels Will stacks on shelves all day long. And then into his life walks Ben.
Ben is all the things Will isn’t: confident, charming (bordering on cocky), popular, a Jiu Jitsu champion, and generally deflecting life’s problems as easily as dodging a clumsy throw on the mat. Whereas Will comes out in a rash at the thought of public speaking, he’s been too way nervous to try dating apps and he’s let his social life go stale since he moved to this big beautiful city.
What starts as unfriendly rivalry grows into friendship and then blossoms into something more…and soon Will and Ben are bonding over their shared love of comic books and loaded burritos. Will feels like he can open up to Ben in a way he never has before. Except…there’s one truth Will doesn’t know how to share. How will Ben react if he knows? It’s time for Will to come out with it, even if it changes everything…because the most important person he needs to be true to is himself.

Cute book
Really cute story, I enjoyed it and would have loved for it to be longer. Awesome to see some trans masculine representation.

Brilliant
This is a great story and really easy to follow along with, the characters are all really fun and interesting, hopefully we learn more about this Jack character in any future books, he sounded like a very compelling and handsome character.
Looking forward to more stories by Mr. Bertie!

A Charming and Delightful Story
Alex Bertie is a brilliant writer. His style is so natural and inclusive. The easy familiarity of his characters' dialogue draws you into their world completely. How great to find a novel about transgender relationships, revealing the insecurities and uncertainties they have to face in the search for love. I felt so close to Will and Ben and would love to read further novels about them.

Truly worth a listen. Brilliant narrator
Was not sure what to expect but wanted a short story whilst busy and this came up.
So glad it did. The story, even though a heavy subject, was light, well written and so humorous.
Loved the characters and different parts of the story worked so well.
The icing on the cake was the narrator who was wonderful to listen to.
Will be looking out for more from the author and narrator. Well done to all x

Great all round modern romantic comedy.
Saw this recommended on a summer listening list somewhere and really enjoyed it. Very heartwarming story cheered me up on a rainy day.
Writing and narration are good. Will look for more from this author for sure.

Very sweet uncomplicated love
Really enjoyed this very cute love story about a boy learning to be comfortable with himself and falling in love with another boy. Great match with the voice actor too
