In this third audiobook for The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, the irrepressible Mma Ramotswe faces supreme problems at home and at work. The detective agency is dealing with some of its most puzzling cases: the government official whose sister-in-law is trying to poison his brother; the beauty pageant whose contestants aren't as good as their looks; and the strange young boy, found naked and wild, smelling of a lion.

beautiful writing wonderfully read

Ramotswe is facing some issues to make money from her agency after her secretary/detective/ assistant manager Mma. Makutsi promotion. She decides to save some rent money and moves to "Speedy Motors" to share an office with her fiancé. However, J.L.B. Matekoni is not feeling well and needs her attention as well as her clients. As always, she ends up with too much on her plate.

I am not sure how this happened, but the beautiful writing of this series read by the wonderful Adjoa Andoh somehow addicted me. This is the third book of the series I am listening in a row. I now want to hear something new about Ramotswe every day and "taste" a bit of Botswana in the spoken words. What a beautiful series, and in this one we get a little more of mystery regarding a poisoner.

Morality for Beautiful Girls

I loved the narrator in this version of the books.
She brought life to the story by giving each character his or her own voice.

Brilliantly done listening was too short

As usual, this book met the same exacting standards of this previous books. However, I was really hoping to hear a little bit more about the little boy and a determination of where he actually came from, I’m hoping this is established in the next book, although if not, Poor show really.

Looking forward to starting on the next read, really wish that these books were longer!

Simple stories, told simply

The stories are a tad too simple - were they not for adults, they would need a preschool audience to be enjoyed

Gentle and easy going

A good book for calming down before bed. The narrator's accent is very good and the characters are easily distinguishable. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
