About this listen
JAMES BOND INVESTIGATES A VILLAIN WITH THE POWER TO LAUNCH A NUCLEAR WARHEAD
Sir Hugo Drax is a multimillionaire tycoon and war hero, revered by the British public for his new Moonraker missile defense system. But there’s more to this enigmatic millionaire than he lets on. When M suspects Drax of cheating at cards, he is baffled that the patriot would risk his reputation and his rocket program on a game, so he assigns Bond to infiltrate Drax’s circle.
As 007 probes the activities at the Moonraker base in the days leading up to the beloved rocket’s maiden launch, he learns the truth about Drax’s battle scars, his wartime allegiances–and his murderous plans for the deployment of Moonraker.

This is the third Bond novel I have listened to on Audible. If you have enjoyed watching the Bond franchise at the cinema, you will enjoy the novels in print or on Audible. It is narrated by Alex Kingston, who is first class. I hope she narrated the others I shall order, as it is my intention to secure the full series.
As far as the novels are concerned, they are different from the films. The first books emanate from the fifties and allowances have to be made regarding the cars and gimmickry employed. However, this gives it a lovely period feel. As Ian Fleming did not live to see Goldfinger at the movies he could only have imagined where it might go!
The story line is good, the action fast moving and (again unlike the films) it is understated. As soon as I have finished one novel I cannot wait for the next.
As someone who has listened to many Audible books I heartily recommend this one.
