About this listen
Winner of the Carnegie Prize 2011
‘War,’ says the Mayor, ‘at last.’ Three armies march on New Prentisstown, each one intent on destroying the others. Todd and Viola are caught in the middle, with no chance of escape. As the battles commence, how can they hope to stop the fighting? How can there ever be peace when they’re so hopelessly outnumbered? And if war makes monsters of men, what terrible choices await? But then a third voice breaks into the battle, one bent on revenge….
The electrifying finale to the award-winning Chaos Walking trilogy, Monsters of Men is a heart-stopping novel about power, survival, and the devastating realities of war.

Great performance
This narrator is excellent! He slips in and out of accents and voices confidently and seems to be immersed in the story he's telling.
The book itself was flagging a bit by the end. Too many moments when the baddie could kill the goodie or vice versa but the writer wants to spin it out for no plausible reason other than - apparently - to load in more tragedy, more cruelty and more impossible-dilemma-porn. The trilogy as a whole is very good and very original, even though it could use some shortening. Definitely recommended as a performance.

Monstrous Men
Enjoyable emotional rollercoaster for me covering a brave new world and the quandries of being human. Bit longwinded at times, but it got there in the end.

Just awesome
I have read the whole trilogy and they just got better; this book is beautifully written and performed through the voices of the three main characters. The narrator creates such distinction between every character and really brings the book to life. Absolutely gripping plot which allows you to fall in love with and relate to Todd, Viola and the rest of the characters. Undoub

Awesome!
This is a fantastic climax to the three book story and was so well read that I'll be seeking more by both this author and voice actor.

Gripping
Such a good series! I listened to it twice back to back. The characters are nuanced and captivating. The story keeps surprising you and is unpredictable. So many themes explored within the story: love, honesty, integrity, destruction, misogyny, feminism, cultural diversity, power, fear, acceptance and self awareness. You could just read this book and enjoy the story, or you could let it take you somewhere much deeper if you are courageous enough for that journey.
