About this listen

Number six in multiple New York Times best seller Larry Correia's Monster Hunter series.

Go big or go home.

When Monster Hunter International's top hunter, Owen Zastava Pitt, was given a tip about some hunters who had gone missing in action, he didn't realize their rescue mission would snowball into the single biggest operation in MHI's history. Their men are being held prisoner in a horrific nightmare dimension, and the only way to reach them is through the radioactive ruins of a monster-infested war zone.

As if that wasn't bad enough, it's also the home base of the powerful creature behind the devastating attacks on the Last Dragon and Copper Lake. It turns out ancient gods of chaos really hate trespassers. But this god picked a fight with the wrong crew, and now MHI wants payback. Calling on their allies, a massive expedition is formed, and with the odds stacked against them, a legion of hunters goes to war.

It's D-Day at the City of Monsters.

Anti Hero

I’ve been listening to the entire series and enjoying it very much. However, I have swing from finding Pitt funny and heroic to almost entire opposite. He now strikes me in the same way as Biff from ‘Back to the Future’, a muscle bound bully. Pitt is only really strong when beating opponents tied to chairs. He claims to be a dead shot, however frequently misses unless at point blank range and wins almost entirely by deceit. He sees cheating as legitimate when he uses it (back stabbing, sucker punching etc) by cries foul when ever his own techniques are used against him. He expects to be forgiven for his misdeeds from years ago? But cannot ever forgive anyone for even simple mistakes. He took great offence at being called out for losing his temper completely and beating an unconscious opposite head in blinding him in one eye because it happened years ago, yet held an unyielding grudge against the same man because he had once been in prison years and years previously for a reason Tripp didn’t know. All in all he is an anti hero of Biffs magnitude. With any luck he’ll be killed off soon.

Great follow up

If you have been reading the series this far, then you must be enjoying Corria's style and world building. This instalment won't let you down. More action than you can stake a sharpened stick at and a decent enough plot to keep you engaged.

Lets be honest here, this is no literary masterpiece but it knows exactly what it is and who it is aimed at... It's fun, so sit back and enjoy the mayhem.
