About this listen
A girl tries to cope with being an adult survivor of child sexual abuse and teen relationship abuse by using comedy to mask the pain. Written by Jade McKenzie Stone (“Jaded: The Musical”) and Hillary Hawkins (Kate from Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark?; Keisha from New York Undercover; Robyn, former host of Nick Jr.), this is recommended for audiences 16+.
The Molestation Monologues are dark comedic monologues that will give you a glimpse inside the life of someone who experienced molestation/sexual abuse as a child, teen, and young adult. The Molestation Monologues are based on true stories and incidents of sexual abuse, sexual assault, teen relationship abuse, child sexual abuse, interpersonal violence, and suicidal ideation.
Jade, being the comedian that she is, cracks a few off-color jokes, black humor, and dark humor, using comedy to mask tragedy and to hide the pain inside, but that doesn’t last for long. Her dark side is exposed and laughter turns to rage.
The Molestation Monologues - Vol. 1 includes:
- Clown
- I Could Be In Heaven Right Now
- Get over It
- The Foot Doctor
- Cyber Steven & Friends
- Valentine's Day
- Kiss the Kissing Goodbye
- Treasure Hunt
- I’m Really Good!
- Bra Strap
Warning: Due to strong graphic content, this edition is not appropriate for young children. Best fit for teens and young adults and adult survivors of child sexual abuse. Also good for grown-ups that wish to get a glimpse inside the psyche of one who has been abused.
Molestation Monologues is a one-woman show, created for one really strong actress, and can be performed with just one actor or up to 10. There are 10 monologues in this piece. Runtime: 30 minutes. Great for teens and young adults and anyone looking for dramatic material with a touch of dark comedy. Actors in need of audition monologues may utilize these monologues at their in-person auditions.
