Summary

Still reeling from her grandmother's death, Megan Stanford is shocked when her father, Dean, returns to Misty Manor with real estate developer, Randall Douglas. As Randall's business partner, wife, and assistant arrive shortly thereafter, it becomes clear he intends to sell his mother's estate at all costs. A perfect mystery

I enjoyed this book. This is the first book by this author that I have read or listened to but it won't be the last. I really liked the characters, who were like able and felt like a tight knit group of friends that cared for each other, the dad was something else. Although he added drama and complications to the story, I was surprised he wasn't the one to get killed. I am glad it turned out the way it did, I do like a happy ending for most of characters. The mystery itself was interesting and kept me hooked until the very end. There was a lot going on and with a number of suspects it flowed along nicely. This is book two but it worked well as a standalone book and it didn't matter that I didn't start with book one but I think I might just have to start from the beginning to find out more about the main characters Grandmother.
Megan is struggling to come to terms wIth the death of her grandmother but that is nothing compared to how she feels with the sudden appearance of her father. Especially as he has already lined up a buyer for Misty Manor and that's before the will is read or his mother is even buried. The problem is he and the buyer, along with his entourage, arrive at the door with no warning and expect Megan to accommodate there every whim. Then a body is washed up on the beach and fingers start to point. Is Megan having to live with a killer? With the will reading imminent will Megan have to leave the home she loves? Or will she inherit more than taking care of her grandmother's charities? When will the unwanted house guests leave and will the killer be caught before they do?
I liked the narrator and thought she helped make the story come to life by using some great voices.
