Summary

Midsummer Madness follows the fortunes of talented actress Sophie Gresham as she struggles with the secret she is desperate to hide from her theatre company.

Sophie is shocked when she realises that Joe Harrison, their tough guest producer from New York, is in fact the penniless actor she once helped out in the days when she had more heart than sense. When Sophie is catapulted into a dazzling new television career, Joe Harrison proves himself useful, but not in the way that Sophie might have imagined….

Theatrical shenanigans

Sophie, an actress whose career was blighted by her crippling stage-fright, is Prompt and general dogsbody for a new production of Twelfth Night. The arrival of a celebrity producer and the machinations of a jealous cast member threaten to expose the secret from her past but the delightful heroine has the humour and guts to cope with all the problems that face her. The reader (Penelope Freeman) is excellent and I very much enjoyed this book.
