Summary
The brand new John Rebus thriller from the iconic Number One bestseller Ian Rankin: one of the must-listen books of the year.
'Rebus in jail and better than ever ... Surprising, gripping and witty. Rankin has taken the police procedural and transformed into an epic character study of a man and his city ... Nobody does it better.'
THE TIMES
* * * * *
JOHN REBUS SPENT HIS LIFE AS A DETECTIVE PUTTING EDINBURGH'S MOST DEADLY CRIMINALS BEHIND BARS.
NOW, HE'S JOINED THEM.
As new allies and old enemies circle, and the days and nights bleed into each other, even the legendary detective struggles to keep his head.
That is, until a murder at midnight in a locked cell presents a new mystery. They say old habits die hard...
However, this is a case where the prisoners and the guards are all suspects, and everyone has something to hide.
With no badge, no authority and no safety net, Rebus walks a tightrope - with his life on the line.
But how do you find a killer in a place full of them?

'Unforgettable ... Proves that Rebus is one of the most remarkable characters in crime fiction.'

STUART MACBRIDE, the Sunday Times Number One Bestseller
'Kept me up reading until long after midnight. Blew me away. Absolutely brilliant, as always.'
JILL MANSELL, the Sunday Times Bestseller

Brilliant!
Excellent narration. Intriguing storyline with John Rebus solving a crime from the inside .It was so good to reconnect with all the old characters again (minus one of course!)I would thoroughly recommend this audible.Cannot wait for Number 26 now especially after the surprise ending. The accompanying music was atmospheric and really added to the overall theme. We have just listened to an interesting podcast about the author's love and knowledge of bands, which makes sense with the many references to various tracks.

Hmm not his best
I usually pounce on the latest Rebus & binge listen but the prison setting was just too depressing. I’ll still be listening to the next one though. Excellent narration as always

Thank you, Ian Rankin and James McPherson
So good to have another Rebus. Really enjoyed the depiction of prison life and the inside / outside contrasts. I must be getting too familiar with Rankin’s mind as I saw a couple of plot points coming. No less entertaining for that though and McPherson’s reading is like a warm bath.

Rebus New story, new setting
It’s been a long five years since we found out that rebus ended up in our Scottish court… The five-year week to hear this fabulous narrator pick up an unusual original storyline written by Ian Rankin who had said that his previous rebus story would have been the last.
You will not be disappointed by this Reba story set inside HMP Edinburgh and including all the characters we have come to know and love (Clark, Essen, The young journalist and DI Michael Fox)
The plot is multi layered with Ian Rankin yet again researching an unusual location for a detective rebus story which has satisfied in every way.

Narration and story make a wonderful listen!
Another great Rebus, though he is inside! All our old “friends” and “foes” in the police are there and the whole is a binge worthy indulgence. More please Ian and James!
