Aphrodite Jones
About this listen
An insightful book by the New York Times best-selling author and star of True Crime with Aphrodite Jones.
Michael Jackson was the pop icon the media loved to hate. Tremendously wealthy, inarguably eccentric, and one of the most famous people in the world, Jackson was the unenviable target of constant public humiliation. The media poked fun at his skin, his features, his sexuality, and his lifestyle.
Here, seasoned crime reporter Aphrodite Jones condemns the media for perpetuating hateful rumors and innuendoes, recounting just the sordid details, and reporting only the most despicable accusations and grisly charges made against Michael Jackson during his criminal trial. They had built a highly profitable industry around the superstar's "freaky life" and banked on his conviction.
And, it turns out, they got it all wrong.
In their efforts to make money and win ratings, the media missed the truth. It wasn't until after the "not guilty" verdict that Jones had the insight and courage to admit her own unintentional role in the frenzy surrounding the shocking testimony, high drama, and countless celebrities in Michael Jackson's high-profile criminal trial. Best-selling author and TV host Jones makes amends with what is not only a truthful well-documented chronicle of the entire trial but a powerful indictment against the media for conspiring to distort, dehumanize, and destroy Michael Jackson. She argues convincingly that the case against Jackson amounted to nothing more than a media-made, tax-paid scandal, and she makes an impassioned call to action for the public-at-large to think critically, question the integrity, and demand the truth in the “news”.

The truth surrounding MJ’s years of media torture
An honest book, by the amazing Aphrodite Jones that should be read by all who have been manipulated by the media’s portrayal of MJ, the trial and who have naively formed opinions around a man who was dragged into a different spotlight by the greed of so many.
From the lies that were told to generate money from his name, the press’s obsession with publications of false and manipulated stories to fund their media machine they had created over the years to the honesty narrated that finally shares the truth behind what feels like it all.
This book won’t disappoint and is a must listen/read for fans

The definitive explaination of the 2005 trial
I've been on a binge of MJ books this summer, and Conspiracy is a must read in the vast, often polluted ocean of MJ related books.
The 2005 trial was one of the most shameful episodes of reporting history, a one sided affair that was more interested in tearing down an already damaged spirit, callously taking joy in every unusual aspect of Jackson's life. They failed to cover the defense's side at all and to this day, people point out this trial as evidence of his supposed guilt rather than vindication of his pure soul.
This book takes you through the trial, day by painstaking day, hearing the evidence from both sides in a very dry, matter of fact way that doesn't focus on spectacle or intrigue, rather the complete story of how one more family took advantage of the King of Pop.
