Summary

ONE OF STYLIST'S BEST NEW BOOKS FOR 2020

'This is an unforgettable book.' Roxane Gay

Meditations on the terror of love; tips for getting your disgusting meat carcass ready for some new, hot sex; a frank self-evaluation upon the occasion of one's 30th birthday; and, finally, the answer to the question on everyone's minds: Would dying alone really be so terrible? Blogger and comedian Samantha Irby covers it all with wit and honesty - and serves it with a side of Instagram frittata.

Critic reviews

"This is an unforgettable book, the kind where the author unapologetically bares her heart and asks you to hold it tenderly, with care." (Roxane Gay)

Funny, moving, easy to listen to

I came late to the Samantha Irby party- I listened to Wow, No Thank You, on a whim and thought it was so refreshing and witty. Like listening to a friend tell you about her day, but when she’s really in form. I devoured this in a day, immediately after listening to her later works and while it’s clear she’s improved as a writer, this is still excellent. Samantha is dry, self effacing, and despite what she tells you, very cool. She covers all topics, from her ridiculous sexcapades, to the death of her parents, her harsh upbringing and her favourite recipes. She’s wonderful to listen to. Especially when she enunciates her catch phrases (“excuse me, SIR”)

Poor

I gave up , with 5 hours left to go . I tried really hard to weather the storm but too many things grated . I’m no prude, but the swearing is gratuitous and it doesn’t enhance the story in any way . It could have been reduced by 90% and set the scene / back story just as effectively. I found the narrator super grating . Her voice has a whiny downward inflection which got very tedious . Not sure if audio was the killer . It didn’t help but I honestly don’t think kindle would have been much better . Sorry folks! I gave it my best shot!
