From tastemaker Ruby Warrington comes an essential guide to merging style with soul, beauty with bliss, and karma with cool for a life that is both fabulous and meaningful.
As former Features Editor of the Sunday Times Style magazine, Ruby Warrington has always had her finger on the pulse of what’s trending. The influential force behind The Numinous, the high-vibe on-line magazine about spirituality for modern women, not only is Ruby deeply connected the "now age" spirituality scene, she is also one of the leading faces of the new seeker movement, where hippie meets hipster.
Smart, funny and incisive, Material Girl, Mystical World invites readers on a colourful journey to discover their own path to personal enlightenment in every area of life from love, sex and relationships to fashion and beauty, and health and wellness. Whether teaching readers how to read the tarot the now age way, do a psychic closet clear out, date mindfully or weave the power of the divine feminine into their career and relationships, Warrington embraces the realities of modern life with intelligence and humour.
Punctuated with beautiful illustrations and full of insight from some of the coolest people at the intersection of style, culture and spirituality, Material Girl, Mystical World is the must-have guide for modern seekers – ‘material girls’ who know that enlightenment doesn’t have to mean leaving the pleasure of the everyday world behind.

Easy to listen to spiritual guidance
What made the experience of listening to Material Girl, Mystical World the most enjoyable?
Ruby's journey was very relatable to me as i'm currently going through my own soul searching, trying to piece together my authentic journey in a very busy, fast paced environment that doesn't always leave much room for reflection and the enjoyment of being present. Through this audio book, Ruby gently advises and explores different avenues and techniques for connecting with your higher self through the tarot, astrology, meditation, exercise and details things that worked for her and her personal discovery. It was a joy to listen to her inspirational journey so far whilst painting in my studio.

Great for someone starting the spiritual journey
Great book for someone who feels called to start their spiritual journey and has no idea where to turn first.
Book is basically a brief overview of each popular spiritual practice mixed with writers personal stories and experiences. Great listen if you don't mind 1/5 of the book being essentially a commercial for writer's website and 1/3 of the book being written as a Cosmopolitan style frivolous article. I don’t so I enjoyed the book.

Very Annoying
Generally enjoy things about spirituality but found this very annoying, almost put me off so called spiritual things as it made me realise that that whole ‘community’ is full of self appointed gurus, selling ancient wisdom with a flavour of western privilege and capitalism dressed as spiritualism. The chapter on plant medicine was OK.

Great for anyone starting their spiritual journey
Would you listen to Material Girl, Mystical World again? Why?
I'd listen to it again, it has some great wisdom which can be applied to everyday life as well as Ruby having such a relatable manner.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listened to this book within in about 4-5 days and couldn't stop listening, it was almost like your friend chatting to you.
Any additional comments?
This book is a no bullshit, accessible book that any young girl (or any age for that matter) should read if they want to know more about tarot to shamanism and more.

Interesting
I enjoyed this book but found it unfortunate that some subjects are only skimmed through. For example, there's a long part about Ayahuasca and I was expecting to hear about the author's experience with it (if she ever did choose to, as she didn't specify in the end) but it never came. That left me a bit disappointed. I liked the scientific explanation of why and how crystals can help us. I didn't quite understand the point of the lengthy chapter at the end about Burning Man... I feel like the conclusion could have arisen much sooner.

Urgh
I have owned this highly rated Amazon read for 2 years. It even spent some time in the Caribbean with an Aunt who too was appealed; however it’s a snooze fest. However I will get through this drawl by hook or by crook, hence the audible.
But the struggle is real.
