About this listen
Beginning in the 1950s, William Masters and Virginia Johnson convinced hundreds of people to shed their clothes and copulate—in the name of science. For more than 40 years, the pair served as the nation's top experts on love, sex, and intimacy. In this eye-opening work, critically acclaimed biographer Thomas Maier presents an unprecedented look at the research team of Masters and Johnson, their pioneering studies of intimacy, and their lasting impact on the love lives of men and women.
Masters of Sex offers a titillating portrait of the team's real-life story of love, work, and fame against the backdrop of an American sexual revolution they inspired.

Fascinating history of the people and studies
I saw this on Audible and remembered the TV series on this subject. Wanted to delve behind the scenes a bit more, I have found myself thoroughly engaged throughout the fairly long running time.
This was so, so interesting. It's a biography of the two main figures, the story of their work and research together and intertwining stories, and a social history of just how their work affected a country at a pivotal moment in the 20th century.
The book doesn't hold back from mistakes and foibles, character flaws and scientific faux pas (their take on homosexuality being something that can be therapied away).
I found this thorough and very easy to listen to. Recommended for anyone interested in the subject or the people involved, or anyone interested in key figures in recent history.
