Finding My Calm Center
For years, I felt like my emotions were in the driver's seat, running the show. Little things would send me spiraling, and I never felt truly in control. It offered a lifeline. It dives deep into Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), breaking it down into clear steps. Chapter on Realizing Self-Awareness hit me hard. It helped me identify how my own negative thoughts were fueling my emotional outbursts. Now, when I feel a wave of anger coming on, I can take a step back and ask myself, "Is this thought helpful?" Often, it's not! For example, the other day, my boss gave me some critical feedback. My first thought was, "I'm a total failure!" But remembering this chapter, I challenged that thought. Very useful reference tool
We all have emotions, but for me, getting more insight into and learning how to control them better will help me manage them better as I move forward. This book will help me do just that. In addition, learning about Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a way to understand and manage feelings better, and applying the six-step plan that helps you let go of emotional baggage and find calm can only benefit me. This book doesn't just cover one way to fix everything; it lets you figure out what's causing your feelings and shows you many ways to feel better. Well worth the read.

Look to improve yourself
I got this book for my husband and found it incredibly helpful. My emotions were often out of control, but this book changed that. It explains Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in simple steps.The chapter on self-awareness showed me how negative thoughts led to outbursts. Now, I can ask, "Is this thought helpful?" and usually, it’s not. For example, when my boss gave me critical feedback this week after I poorly handled a situation, I initially thought, "I'm a failure!" However, I remembered the book and saw the feedback as a chance to improve. The book offers practical ways to manage emotions and includes a six-step plan for finding calm. Learning these DBT techniques has also increased my emotional intelligence (EQ). This guide is great for anyone wanting to improve their emotional well-being. I highly recommend it!

Great tool for emotional regulation
This book is a really practical guide to emotional regulation- and who doesn't need that from time to time? I had never heard of DBT before listening to this book, but I am now convinced that it is the key to good communication, building relationships, and healing past wounds that keep most of us from connecting in a healthy way- especially for those of us who experience emotions intensely and then jump to the old narratives that tend to sabotage us and our relationships. Using these techniques, everyone can experience improvement in communication and relating. Try it!
