Monologues, sketches and stories set at the Virgin Money London Marathon, narrated by some of the biggest and best names in comedy.

Tens of thousands of runners descend on London for one of the biggest events of the year... but there's a lot more to the Virgin Money London Marathon than just running.

Over thirteen episodes crammed with some of comedy's brightesttalents and the oddcelebrity cameo, we get inside the minds of: a man who's entered the race by accident; an aunt being blackmailed by her niece; a ghost doomed to haunt the course for eternity; a woman who develops an unusual relationship with her phone; and a couple who are about to get engaged with disastrous consequences... among many others.

Hosted by Mark Watson and featuring Ricky Gervais, Sara Pascoe, David Baddiel, Adam Kay, Angela Barnes, Rufus Hound, London Hughes and dozens more, this is a 'day in the life' comedy ride through the famous race.

Not great

The performances aren't terrible, problem is the idea and writing I think. Edit: now that I've finished, this does make a lot more sense to listen to while running a marathon. Still not good though, and feels very... London-y.

Not up to usual standard

I normally enjoy Mark Watson's stuff but this series did nothing for me, gave up after 1.5 episodes.

Just not funny

I'm normally a fan of Mark Watson but aside from a few moments (e.g. Romesh Ranganathan as a clueless yogi) it just didn't appeal at all. Easter eggs like the characters from earlier sketches cropping up in the background also normally appeal but here they just served to reming me of earlier failures to make me laugh.

Lasted til Episode 6

Considering the varied comedic talent contributing to this podcast, you’d think it would be hysterical. Sadly it is THE most unfunny, yawning tripe I’ve ever heard. I had hoped that as Romesh “He who can do no wrong” Ranganathan was listed on the bill, he might be able to save this sunken ship, but alas no. That all the talent here fails so spectacularly in raising laughs I consider that it is the scenario into which they’ve been asked to contribute. After all just how funny IS a marathon as a comedy setting? All of this, of course, is just my opinion and as it is a free podcast then you can download, listen to and form your own opinion without having to decide on any financial outlay. Enjoy... or not.

Stopped listening

First couple were great. I was training for a marathon at the time so thought great fun to listen to and then they just got terrible. Just seemed to sounds like shouting and moaning.

there's a reason it's free.

all the performer's work hard but the base material is too thin and doesn't even make me smile
