About this listen

Twelve women connected by the death of another, realizing what they most want from life and reaching for it - this is the year of discovery, the year of new beginnings.

Lexie had a family and a future she thought was set, then a burst appendix changed everything. She found herself battling prescription drug addiction, until she lost her husband and her daughter. Trying to put back the pieces, she discovers the biggest obstacle is her own self-doubt, but Lexie must find a way to overcome it or lose her daughter forever.

After an acrimonious divorce, Lexie had struggled to get clean of prescription drug abuse and earn money to support her beloved daughter. But with the death of her old car and an eviction notice for late payment of rent, she is on the verge of losing her entire world when her ex husband demands full custody of their daughter.

This series is a wonderful validation of the power of women to turn their lives around with the help and support of others. The characters are well written and sympathetic, the narration by Kelley Hazen excellent and, even if the story is a tad wishful thinking, the inspiration behind it is well worth reading
