About this listen
Paul Martin joined the army to escape the harsh conditions at home. When orders send him to the Carolinas for training maneuvers, he doesn’t know what to expect. He didn’t expect to find strong friends or the girl of his dreams.
But with trouble at home, the war raging in Europe, and the possibility of the United States being pulled into the conflict, the future looms uncertain.

Beautiful story!
Did you ever wonder what happens when a soldier goes off to war? Maneuvers gives us an intimate look at the life of Paul. He joins the army during World War II, as he thought it would be better than his home life. Before deploying he lands in a small town in the south and is given food and shelter by a family. Here he meets Donna. Young, these two enjoy getting to know each other, but their future is unknown. Janice Cole Hopkins leads us through their journey to happiness, through tragedy, fear, and the unknown. It shows us the real sacrifices that are made for our freedom and through faith and love we find our happiness. It's a beautiful story.
Brad Leaf is our narrator and he is new to me. He has an easy pace and warmth to his voice making the story flow with ease. It is a wonderful story and listen.
