About this listen

Culter Fuller came back into my life on the day my mother died, as if losing my mother wasn't bad enough.

We hated each other since childhood. Well, I hated him, and I thought it was mutual. He had a very different story.

When I moved to my dad's house to finish my last semester of high school, we went from bitter enemies to...something else. He was suddenly everywhere, occupying my space, determined to pull me into his life, filling me with thoughts I knew were wrong.

I knew that soon we would cross a line that should never be crossed.

I knew crossing that line could have very serious consequences; because Culter Fuller wasn't just any irresistible boy, Culter Fuller was my stepbrother.

But, I was always very bad at making the right choices.

Really enjoyed

Any additional comments?

A sweet, romantic story. This is a book that teens and young adults will certainly enjoy. I think I was expecting more drama and conflict involving the adults' reactions to Cassie's romantic relationship with her step brother but the story concentrated more on the build up to it along with the trials and tribulations of fitting in to a new school and making new friends.I do recommend it for older teens only due to the prolific use of the 'f' word and the mature situations these high school students find themselves in.I voluntarily reviewed a copy gifted to me.

.Taboo YA Romance laid bare

Waw the phrase "It's complicated "was created for these guys: Culter and Cassie .The Synopsis given is full so I do not want to further rehearse the story which was exciting and action packed, though fairly short in length. As always, the narration by Maureen Hoff was impeccable, clear, well paced with just the right dramatic emphasis and clear voicings for the individual characters. Her reading most definitely enhances the experience exponentially .It's very much a a taboo topic .This story though if listened to to those who object on principle could melt their hearts to the topic because their relationship developed before our eyes and it was as pure a love as Snow White and Prince Charming.I wanted to wrap Cassie up in a blanket and keep her safe but Culter did that for me.He is the kind of guy I think a Majority of females would want in their lives forever. In the book we see how they overcome adversity and its beautiful. This is my first listen/read by Rita and I have to say this book was something of a gem. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. As always this is my honest opinion.

Complex, sweet, emotional YA romance

Culter and Cassie's romance is filled with all the usual young adult angst. They are step siblings but their relationship is so much more complex. It is coloured with shared childhood memories (differently interpreted by each of them) and the a whole slew of newer experiences. Culter re-enters Cassie's life after a long break when her mother's dies. The older versions of themselves face their past, present and the questions about the future together.

This story is very emotional. The challenges of family life coupled with the loss of a beloved parent along with the general experiences of being on the cusp of adulthood add layers of depth to the plot. I enjoyed the development of Cassie and Culter's romance. To be honest, it is hard not to have a little crush on Cutler
who projects a wonderful supportive and protective warmth for his newly displaced step-sister and, as it turns out, long time love.

Maureen Hoff's narration matches this genre. She brings the story and characters alive, placing the reader smack dab in the middle of the action.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
