Summary
If he kisses me right now, I’ll drown.
Every sip of air is shallow and burning, because in the arms of my best friend’s brother, I’m the closest I’ve ever been to sin.
His eyes flick to my lips, and I remember the first time I tasted him, seven years ago before I left this town and vowed never to return. His hands grip my waist, and I remember the pain when he rejected me, when my entire world crashed down at his command. His jaw clenches, and my senses come alive with one stinging reminder.
I’m not his to kiss, and he’s not mine.
I tried to stay away from Tyler Wagner, putting an entire country between us. But when his sister’s wedding brings us back to the same town, to the same house, I can’t avoid him, no matter how hard I try.
He’s always there, his dark eyes bewitching, luring me into their depths. The memory of us pulls me under like a rip current, and when he flashes that smile, I lose my breath, along with my will, unable to escape his grip and find the surface.
Now, hours before our plus ones arrive for the wedding, I’m in his arms, begging him to make me hate him, knowing he never could.
If he kisses me right now, I’ll drown.
And I’ll take him down with me.

Jasmine and Tyler!
Jasmine has endured a childhood that no on should have to but her best friend Morgan and his brother Tyler became the family she never had. When she is handed yet another emotional upheaval she ends up turning to Tyler but their actions that night left him with regrets and her with a broken heart. The only way to handle her pain was to leave town and she hasn’t returned since.
Years later Morgan is getting married and she wants Jasmine to be her maid of honor. She now finds herself in her hometown with no choice but to face her painful past. She has moved forward with her life and is determined to leave her feelings for Tyler in the past, but some things are easier said than done.
So much emotion and so much angst as Jasmine and Tyler’s journey is at times heartbreaking and at times heartwarming but the one thing you can count on is that it will definitely make you feel. The narrator did a great job of ensuring you had the same roller coaster of feelings as Jasmine.

Make Me Hate You
A great friends-to-lovers story.
I would have prefered his and her POV, but still I enjoyed listening to the story.
It's an emotional rollercoaster with great characters!

My first of many Kandi Steiner books
Make Me Hate You I am ashamed to say is my first taste of Kandi Steiner's writing, and I will definitely be reading more of her work. The novel is about Tyler, his sister Morgan and Jasmine who were inseparable as teens. When Jasmine's life throws her a devastating curveball, things between her and Tyler change in a single moment that acts as a catalyst for a 7 year time period where they don't have contact. Now Jasmine has to return to her home town for her best friend Morgan's wedding and she has to come face to face with Tyler for the first time in years.
The story was quick to establish a connection to Jasmine for me, I truly felt for her as an 18 year old and her vulnerability was clear to see. After this first introduction the story took a little time to get going but once the communication started up between Jasmine and Tyler I was sucked straight back into their push and pull chemistry and years of bottled up feelings.
Kandi built the angst well between Hero and heroine, as they try to rebuild their broken friendship and learn about the people they have become. Their attraction to each other builds too along with all the old emotions they held for each other. The problem? Both are in relationships, and both are waiting for their partners to arrive for the wedding.
It's pretty clear that Tyler and Jasmine are soulmates; but I honestly didn't know how this one would play out, which shows the talent of Kandi's writing. Holly Warren did a fantastic job narrating the audiobook, I loved her level of expression especially when it came to the emotional scenes, also her male vocal performance was very well done for Tyler's parts.
Tyler and Jasmine were both very likeable characters, the tension between them was built well by Kandi skilfully portraying to the reader the devastation Jasmine felt when Tyler broke her heart. When you begin to get pieces of Tyler's story too I was done for and 100% invested into this couple. I loved that it wasn't as straight forward as I expected it to be, I admired Kandi for going to a place not all readers like; but for me I love these elements, it's real and it made sense to their story. Make Me Hate You is one I would recommend to others looking for a friends to lovers, second chance romance.

Angsty goodness
This gave me such a throwback to this authors other book which I loved A Love Letter To Whiskey. While it didn't quite hit that level in the angst department it was darn close. It's a best friend's brother romance which I'm always a sucker for. I felt so much for Jasmine and Taylor - timing was never on their side. Their relationship was so intense and I felt it. While I didn't cry as much as in Whiskey this book broke me in so many ways, but the raw passion, need, and chemistry between the two main characters got me in all my feels. The audio is perfect for a story like this. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.
