About this listen

Plagued by a war between magic and technology, Atlanta has never been so deadly. Good thing Kate Daniels is on the job.

Kate Daniels may have quit the Order of Merciful Aid, but she's still knee-deep in paranormal problems. Or she would be if she could get someone to hire her. Starting her own business has been more challenging than she thought it would be - now that the order is disparaging her good name, and many potential clients are afraid of getting on the bad side of the Beast Lord, who just happens to be Kate's mate.

So when Atlanta's premier Master of the Dead calls to ask for help with a vampire on the loose, Kate leaps at the chance of some paying work. Turns out this is not an isolated incident, and Kate needs to get to the bottom of it - fast, or the city and everyone dear to her might pay the ultimate price.

Contains mature themes.

Magic Slays

Kate has battled on many layers, personal one's and pack one's. Here she has to prioritise then making the personal one's wait. Excellent story with loads of problems to solve. Read brilliantly again by Renee Raudman.

Becoming too silly

Overall this was fairly entertaining, but the fighting, politics and evil master plans turn more tedious with every book.

Some may prefer the gore and fighting scenes plus the need to overcome a super evil villian (or machine) in every book. I don’t mind the gore at all, but the rest is now too predictable and dull. So I’m gonna put Kate Daniels to rest in my reading list. I have exhausted my appetite for her and the dramas.

Book 5 also had glimpses of the snarky insults from book 4, but luckily it wasn’t as overbearing. The sarcasm is likely intended to create comedic moments, but it just makes the characters seem beechy and less likable. Sadly.

I still love the Innkeeper Chronicles though, so will continue reading the new instalments week to week. That’s more my cup of tea, as it focuses on the interesting characters, fun interactions and situations. I just hope the Innkeeper doesn’t turn into Kate.

Good listen/read

I really enjoyed the book. However, sorry to disappoint, but the narrator’s voice is annoying! She sounds like someone’s old cranky, crusty grandma! Nothing at all like a dynamic woman in her prime filled with astonishing magics!! Deeply annoying as it is such a good book!!

Better and better

Each book is better than the last. Kates ward gets hurt and infected with the shape shifting virus so Kate has to fight for her life. As well as all that she also has to find a man who has invented a machine that can wipe out magic and everyone who holds it.

Not great this one

Found book 5 really really boring, sorry but not much action, hopefully book 6 will be better, just my opinion
