About this listen
I never imagined the protector I longed for would be a mob boss who demanded complete control. I shouldn’t have gone to Lucien’s office.
Once I looked into his eyes, I couldn’t leave. He commanded me to kneel. Beg. Obey. I couldn’t help myself. One taste, and I craved more.
Lucien vowed to protect me from his enemies.... But who’s going to protect my heart from him?
This MM mafia romance is the first book in the Marchesi family series.

Sometimes submitting is so sexy...
Lucien, written by Silvia Violet, is the very first mafia romance that I’ve read or listened to. There are a lot of people out there that gobble up these sorts of books, but I’ve always avoided them. To be totally honest, the main reason I listened to this book was that I enjoy Silvia Violet’s writing style. I was worried that I’d dislike mafia romances or similar because they delve into romanticizing criminal lifestyles. And believe you me, it’s laughable for me to say that because I’ve been into some pretty messed up books that dance within the black area. I’m a walking contradiction, I know.
Now, saying all of that, I thought the first Marchesi Family book was pretty good. It’s the story of how an innocent young man becomes the love interest of a mob boss. Peter was a young guy down on his luck, out of work, and needing stability in his life when the story starts. His shady cousin, Jimmy, convinces Peter to take an office assistant job. Supposedly Jimmy was meant to start the job the next day but tells Peter he got a ‘better offer’ elsewhere. Peter takes up the offer, he just didn’t know that the job, and his boss, weren’t what he expected.
Lucien Marchesi is the head of the Marchesi crime family. After his father stepped down, Lucien took over with the single-minded determination of proving himself as the gay head of the Marchesi family. He comes across ass this hardass with a firm grip on the goings-on of their businesses. Lucien is a ‘take no shit’ sort of person, even when it comes to his family, that gets whatever he wants. And what he wants is Peter.
It’s clear from the beginning that there is a D/s relationship in the works. Lucien immediately makes it obvious he expects Peter to bend to his will and, despite being afraid in the beginning, Peter does submit. The dynamics are incredibly sexy between these two. I loved seeing the push and pull of the power play with Lucien and Peter. The hot mob boss introduces Peter to pleasures and pain that he’s never known before, and Peter is living for it.
I liked the little bit of drama that happened throughout this book. Everything from Angel thinking Peter might be their leak, Devil seeming to have a twisted streak, Jimmy being shady as hell, and the power struggle among the mafia families, there was so much going on with this book. It wasn’t very dark or graphic regarding the violence. I was a little disappointed by that. When you think of a crime related book, you expect a lot of violence, right? But, it wasn’t so mellow that I found it boring.
This was an entertaining read that left me feeling happy enough once I finished. Michael Dean did a great job of infusing so much passion into these characters while narrating. I love that Michael Dean does put so much energy into everything he reads. Though I liked the story well enough, I might not have stayed as interested in the overall story if there had been a different narrator. I’m so happy he was the one Silvia Violet chose to read her book.
Overall, I’d recommend this novel to anyone interested in mellower mafia romances. If you want something that dallies in the mafia scene without too much violence and gory, you’d probably enjoy this read. If you’re looking for something grittier, you might be disappointed. The sexy scenes, in my opinion, are pretty damn hot, and, considering it’s Silvia Violet who wrote this, I’d say that’s just about right. If this sounds good to you, you should definitely check this book out.

Peter and the Mob Boss
I love this new trilogy by Silvia Violet and with the guys being brought to life by Michael Pauley, this was an entertaining listen for me. I do like stories about domination and submission, and this was a sweet but exciting tale of a young man who gets caught up in a cousin's machinations and ends up becoming the paramour of Mob boss, Lucien Marchesi. Highly recommended dark contemporary MM romance.

Outstanding
The Narrator of this book had to bring to life some very strong characters and Michael Dean did just that, he took a story that on it leaves a person blown away and brought that world to the listener immersing them within it and creating a breathtaking work of art.

Salacious, surprising and thrilling!
okay, wow! Salacious, surprising and thrilling. Silica has a way with words and a way to have you begging to obey! I couldn't put it down and read/listened in one sitting it's just that good!
I really enjoyed the steam and fireworks right from the start between Lucien and Peter. I enjoyed the surrender. I was surprised to find myself falling for such a morally ambiguous character but as Peter strips down Lucien's layers we see more of a feircely loyal and loving man that is more than his crimes.
I loved the whole gang and can't wait for more from Angel and Devil. I just know it's going to be a riot! I thoroughly enjoyed this one!

Sexy
I don't know how Silvia did it, but she made this Mob family hot! The story was really engaging and the characters likeable. Michael's voice was everything you thought it would be. Him saying the word "obey" always sends a shiver down my spine.

Absolutely brilliant
Michael Dean was amazing and made the story come alive.
Lucien was intense and the narrator captured that perfectly. Lucien and Peter were explosive together and I could happily get lost in them.
Fantastic book.

A well written mafia romance
Lucien Marchesi is head of the family, the Marchesi crime family that is. He’s in charge, knows what he wants and how he’s going to go about it. Peter kind of stumbles in to this, completely unknowing about what’s going on, and finds that Lucien decides what he wants is Peter and he knows precisely how he’s going to get him.
I’m 50/50 on mafia stories. I’ve read/listened to some good ones and some equally as bad ones. Thankfully Lucien is one of the good ones. I loved the D/s dynamics and relationship between the men - it worked wonderfully.
Narration wise, Michael Dean always pulls out all stops and he did no different with Lucien. I’m excited to listen to more from this series.

Loved
I loved listening this book and following Lucien and Peter. It has some steamy scenes while also having some dark ones. But I liked that Lucien learned that he could love Peter. I enjoyed the chemistry between them. The narrator did a brilliant job bringing the different characters to life.
