Summary
From a USA Today bestselling author comes a brand new small town suspense romance perfect for fans of western thriller dramas and big-city heat.
I came to Finn River to get away from trouble. But it found me–in the form of a forbidden kiss.
After a narrow escape from Alaska and months on the run, I take a security gig that doesn’t ask any questions about my past. But it didn’t take long before trouble came knocking—first, a dangerous rescue, second, sharing my secrets with the one girl I shouldn't trust.
I need to stay away from Sofie Whittaker. Not only are we from different worlds, with two very different futures, being with her puts us both at risk. But her bright blue eyes and rare smile haunt my days, her sassy mouth and tight curves consume my nights. The more I try to push her away, the more entwined our lives become, until the morning I find her in my bed, begging me to make her mine.
But it all comes crashing down the night my past catches up to me. No way am I letting Sofie go—but in fighting for her, will I break us for good?
Author's note: soulmates brought together by fate, a mountain town fighting change, and an addicting, unsolved mystery.
Love Me Dangerous is Zach and Sofie's story and book 1 in a new series of stand-alone romances featuring a different hero and heroine fighting for their HEA. Be there when these irresistible stories begin! Start listening to this epic love story today!

Comfort read
This is my first Dakota Davies book and considering I listened to it twice in the span of a month, it’s safe to say I really enjoyed it. It’s a small town romantic suspense with secrets, character growth and found family.
My experience with this book is precisely the reason I like to read. I’ve had a hectic few weeks and this book was the vacation in a small mountain town that I needed. The pace is a bit slow, after some initial excitement at the beginning of the book, which I’m usually not a fan of, but I found this pace rather soothing and nice. There’s a slow build-up of suspense and then in the last 20% the story picks up and we get a lot of action and questions answered.
Zach and Sofie are such lovely, relatable characters and it was really nice to watch how their friendship grew and blossomed into more. They’re multi-layered characters whose personalities we uncover over time and the author did a great job keeping me curious to learn more about them.
The community in Finn River is what makes me want to continue the series. They’re so friendly and supportive and so welcoming to Zach. They really helped him heal and trust again. There’s a really big found family aspect to this story. And I loved the ending. It turned out exactly how it was supposed to and I suspect this book is going to become a comfort read for me.
I loved the narration. I was draw to this book because of Robert Hatchet. I always enjoy his performance and this book was no exception. From the very beginning he endeared me to his character, even when we weren’t sure if Zach was entirely a good guy. He projected all the different parts of Zachs personality so well; his empathy, protectiveness, determination, his vulnerability. Laura Horowitz is new to me and I will definitely be looking for more of her work. I really enjoyed her portrayal of Sophie. This narration was done in dual style and Laura did a great job voicing the male characters. Both narrators really had me invested in Zach and Sophie’s happiness and wellbeing, skilfully expressed the full range of the characters’ emotions, making it easy to connect with them.
While I liked a lot about the book, there were a couple of issues I had with the story. Firstly, this is the first in the series, but I kept feeling like I was missing some backstory. Then I found out it’s a spiff off of another series and picks up from where the last book in that series ends. While this is a complete story on it’s own, I think for the best reading experience, it’s better to read that book first (Her Wild Coast Promise). The second thing didn’t really impact my enjoyment of the story, because it came up towards the end. Zach is much younger than he appears to be. We don’t find out his age (I think he’s about 21) until the end of the book, when the whole mystery of his backstory is revealed, but through out the book, I thought he was in his late twenties or early 30s because of how worldly he seems and also because Robert Hatchet sounds older than early 20s.
All that being said, I really enjoyed this book and plan to continue the series, as well as go back and read the series that leads into this one. This is a great book if you’re looking to escape into a story set in a scenic location with friendly neighbours and a bit of excitement.

Great performances!
This is a truly immersive book. As I was listening to this story, I noticed myself being drawn in slowly and really becoming invested in each of these characters. I appreciated the realistic feel to the story with every character having flaws that make them relatable. There is an air of suspense throughout with an underlying mystery as to why Zach is on the run and whether or not he is going to take off again. Sofia has her own family drama that causes another layer of tension and enhances the plot. The romance aspect seems to take a backseat for a majority of the book and then feels a bit rushed but the ending more than makes up for that.
There is not a single mark against either narrator. They both did an amazing job bringing their characters to life and representing every emotion as it’s meant to be felt. They also were great with providing different characters their own unique voices. The narration helped keep me engaged in some of the slower points in the story so I will be sure to catch the next on audio as well.

Love Me Dangerous
Love Me Dangerous is book one in the Love Me Dangerous series. Zach is living the life of a drifter. He is hitchhiking from town to town. He gets side jobs and is paid in cash. He is hiding from his stepfather. On his last job as a bouncer he helps a girl out. The girl was getting man handled without her consent. While he was hitching a ride, in a horse trailer. There was a terrible car accident. A Jeep ended up in the lake. He dove in and saved the same girl from the previous night. Sophie was the girl Zach saved twice. They keep crossing paths. This is a bit of a slower burn. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet did a wonderful job narrating this book.

Zach and Sofie!
Zach is struggling as he tries to stay one step ahead of his past and protect the person, he loves the most. He now finds himself in Finn River where his path seems destined to cross with Sofie. As they spend time together even though he tries to stay distant he develops feelings for her which places them both in danger.
Ever since her mother left six years earlier Sofie has put her life on hold to try and hold her family together, but it isn’t without its challenges. Zach was there when she needed someone the most and now she can’t get him out of her mind or her heart despite all the secrets he isn’t sharing.
Zach and Sofie are kindred spirits who will do anything for their family. They have a connection that goes far beyond the physical and the suspense part of the story is not predictable. I have not listened to these narrators before however they didn’t disappoint as the emotional part of the story tugs at your heart and the intrigue part keeps you on edge.

Beautifully written, engaging and captivating!
This is the first book in the Love Me Dangerous Series, a mountain town romantic suspense. Wow! I loved it! Zach and Sofie's story is beautifully written, engaging, and captivating, filled with secrets, mystery, danger, and twists and turns. Zach is handsome, enigmatic, and protective. Sofie is beautiful, independent, kind, and smart. The plot is well crafted, and intriguing. The supporting characters are interesting. Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet did an outstanding job bringing these characters, and this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Love Me Reckless, the next book in the series. I like Dakota Davies's writing, she never disappoints.

Suspenseful
This was an intense story.
This romantic suspense was full of emotions, surprises, tension, secrets and more.
Zach is doing his best to stay off the radar, he has a past that isn’t safe and when his journey leads him to Northern Idaho, he finds that maybe there’s more to his life than running.
The chemistry between him and Sophie is incredible and intense. They complement each other and are both caring people who put others first.
The slow build friendship & romance gave added tension.
This book was full of tension and suspense, with stellar narration from Laura Horowitz and Robert Hatchet.

Love Me Dangerous: A Smalltown Suspense Romance
🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧
I haven’t had a romantic suspense experience like this one in a very long time. The story progressed from the very beginning and every layer added to the suspense. The relationship built because of the suspense, and it was so intriguing that I found it hard to stop listening at times. I took my time with this audiobook because I knew after listening to only a few chapters that every plot-point/circumstance that happened was a means to an end and would be important to know. I also listened to it twice, once back in July and then again, a few weeks ago. Both MCs have their own mysterious circumstances that come together in this story, and you have the romance journey as well and I wanted to really catch every detail. If you haven’t guessed by now, I am a huge fan of romantic suspense stories, and when one comes along as captivating and edge-of-your seat as this one did, I paid attention.
Turns out I did myself a favor by going thru this story twice because I loved it and the second time around I concentrated more on the relationship between Zach & Sophie (because I’d already unraveled the mystery LOL) and I have to tell you this woman can write a romance build exceptionally well. She gave Zack & Sophie the room to grow from strangers to friends to more and it had a kismet quality to it that felt real and organic. There was nothing cliché or trite about any of it and I appreciated that tremendously. There really wasn’t even a moment of predictability, in their romance journey or mystery journey.
Dakota Davies made me feel connected to the story and the characters and I am already in love with her style and voice. Talk about insta! This woman had me practically at ”hello”, as they say, and I am here for it. This was an unpredictable and thrilling ride that warmed my heart with a whole lot of swooning moments. Robert Hatchet and Laura Horowitz were so good together and complimented each other in performance and voice. They are both very versatile but I gotta give Laura bigger props because her range and versatility with the different voices, including the male voices, was outstanding, and I just cannot believe my ears and her have not crossed paths before now!
