Summary

His heart’s desire. His life-long friend. Separate women…or one and the same?

Clarkson Dalton abandoned his books and poetry to join the Confederacy, determined to protect his family’s South Carolina plantation and the women who live there. Instead of garnering honor and glory, however, he missed most of the fighting as a prisoner of war.

Three years stewing in shame and humiliation would have driven him mad, except for the packet of letters he carries home tucked next to his heart. Missives from his betrothed, Kimberly, whose sweet, passionate words literally kept him alive.

Melissa Fleming has been cleaning up her mistress’s messes for almost as long as she can remember. One task, however, was no hardship during their temporary London exile—writing letters to the man Miss Kimberly discarded like a soiled bit of lace. Missy fell for the sensitive, scholarly Clarkson years ago. Though the signature on the letters was not her own, every word of love was real.

Now that the war is over, it’s time for Kimberly and Missy to return home. And Missy is about to discover there’s a mess awaiting her…and this time, cleaning it up could break her heart.

Love Letters is the third audiobook in Sandra E. Sinclair’s “Unbridled” historical, western romance series—where the female are all strong, capable and sassy, but most of all…unbridled. If you like escaping into bygone days when the west was wild and women wore big dresses, you will love the “Unbridled” series.

Unlock the secrets in Love Letters—start listening to this tantalizing historical western romance today.

Historical western love triangle!

What a muddle! Kim, Missy and Clarkson all knew each other as children. Clarkson fancied himself in love with Kim and asked for her hand in marriage. The problem was that Missy secretly pined for Clarkson and she's Kim's companion. Then the war comes to Charleston, where they all live, and Clarkson goes to war while Kim and Missy accompany Kim's parents to the relative safety of Europe.

The story is set after the war. Clarkson spent most of the war safely confined to his uncle's home and now carries a fair share of shame and survivor's guilt as well as suffering from PTSD. The only thing that sustained him through the years are Kim's letter. The same letters that Missy wrote on Kim's behalf.

Like any house of cards, the truth showly tumbles down as the tangled web unravels.

Sandra E Sinclaire has written a simple love triangle with complex angles. Just as the reader thinks the characters have sorted themselves out there is a twist in the plot and the story changes again. Overall this is a fun and sweet story.
