Summary

Grace longed to find love, to share her existence. She found love, but relationships often confused or unsettled her.

Her first love died, her second love was going to abandon her, her third love saw who she was a little too clearly, her fourth love was only meant to have been a friend, her fifth love was just simply a buffoon, her sixth attempt at love was consumed by addiction, her seventh captured by his past love, the eighth she loved, shattered her self trust.

All but one is known to be alive, two may have escaped their circumstance to start their life afresh, not taking Grace with them.

This is Grace’s journey to find love with another, learning that Love Dies.

Deliciously disturbing

Deliciously disturbing! Have you ever had a relationship that went so horribly sour you secretly wished your ex would just fall off the face of the earth?
The narrator has given this story a beautifully eloquent audio which pulls the listener along and lulls them into a false sense of security, while the story itself chills to the bone. The distinct contrast of calm and clear voice vs the disturbing text which reads like a diarized, stocktaking account of Grace’s victims, makes the listener feel uncomfortable and curious all at the same time. I thought it was so clever to account these distorted love and death experiences in a way that feels removed and clinical, making the reader realize the chilling psychopathy at play that results in the demise of Grace’s relationships. The abrupt ending of the book chooses not to tie loose ends together, exasperating the feeling of discord one might find in a true life crime mystery.
