Summary

A sinister séance. A mysterious murder. A killer with a taste for the occult

When famous psychic Meredith Romanoff visits New Orleans, getting wrapped up in another mystery is the last thing Roxy would have predicted. Too bad the spirits had other plans.

Roxy finds herself invited to join in a spooky séance but when the lights come up, Meredith has left the land of the living. And to make matters worse, Roxy’s friend Dr. Jack is arrested for her murder. When he asks Roxy to help clear his name, she finds herself confronted with yet another puzzling case, along with a gaggle of quirky suspects.

Eager to help her friend, and get back to restoring her boutique hotel, Roxy wastes no time searching for clues. But when her investigation lands her in hot water with the law, this amateur sleuth must risk everything to get to the truth.

Can she narrow down the suspects, free Doctor Jack, and get back home in time to feed her cat? And more importantly, can she expose the killer before another victim joins the spirit world.

The spirits say listen to this book

The spirits say listen to this book you won't be disappointed.
I enjoyed this book and trip to New Orleans. There was no mistaking where this book was taking place, with its mysterious vibes, cult and beliefs it made for an interesting case. This is book three in the series and it just gets better and better, especially as the characters are growing into there own. Roxy isn't the same timid woman we first met, although this did get her in trouble in this book. The other characters are fun and I really like how they are becoming a family. The mystery was good and weaves together nicely to reach the climax, I must admit I had no clue who the killer was and was actually suspecting the wrong person. I can't wait for the next book.
A famous psychic Meredith Romanoff is coming to New Orleans for the first time and has hired out the whole of The Funky Cat guesthouse for her and her entourage for the duration. Meredith invited Roxy to join her and her small group for a special seance. When the lights go out Roxy gets more than just a ghostly visit. When the lights come back on Meredith is laying dead on the table with a gun beside her. The police are quick to arrest Dr Jack but Roxy and her friends know they have the wrong man but can they find the real killer? Roxy will have to learn more about her guests, as well as the spirit world if she wants to help. The problem is the police think they have the right man and don't need her help.
I love the narrator. Especially the voice she gives Nat, I think that is why she is one of my favourite characters in the book.

As good as th first two books in the series

This series is an ideal combination of a great story from a very capable and successful author and the very skillful narration from a skilful and versatile actress. This book continues the story of Roxy Reinhardt and her boutique hotel in New Orleans. The story is peopled by a very mixed bunch of characters who all have very strong personalities, and not a few eccentricities.
The hotel has been fully booked out by a famous psychic and her entourage, but on the first evening of her visit she is shot dead whilst holding a spiritual reading at Roxy's friend's Botanica shop, the owner of the shop, Doctor John is accused of the murder, but is Roxy herself also a suspect? Can she clear Doctor John's name?
The different characters are all brought to life by the narrator and each has their own individual 'voice' making listening to this story a real pleasure. The only problem is that I have to wait for the next book to be recorded!
