Summary

New Yorker Jayne Boland has a problem. A BIG problem.

Dumped hours after landing in Italy by her two-timing Italian boyfriend, Jayne faces the reality of launching Plan B instead shopping for an engagement ring. Knowing family and friends await her Manhattan return with I-told-you-so’s, the heartbroken fashionista flees to chic Milan to reassess her shattered life and resuscitate her anemic bank account.

But the runway streets of the elegant fashion capital don’t roll out the red carpet for the newcomer. Her luck changes when Electra di Caneva, the reclusive, but glamorous countess, and her adorable son, need a driver for their summer road trip to the family castle and beyond. Thrown into an elite world of ridiculous demands, Jayne battles with wit and determination while keeping her eye on the prize - a chance to join the team of a top luxury label. But only if she can create a mood board that captures the essence of glorious Italy.

Armed with a creative blueprint, Jayne is unaware her journey will include hilarious obstacles and incredible situations that will test her more than she ever imagined. Guided by fate, humor, and an unlikely mentor, Jayne takes a transformative odyssey where imagination, sisterhood, and self-discovery are sewn together for an inspirational and entertaining voyage from heartbreak to healing.

You should pick this up - and so should @netflix!

This is not my normal sort of book but it is ... truly delightful. It is sad (in a few parts) and absolutely hilarious (in many other parts). You feel you get to know the author as she takes you inside her own mind as she travels from NYC to Italy and Croatia while she encounters all sorts of weird and wonderful folk. The author's indomitable spirit makes you think she can survive anything and her quick wit helps too. As an added bonus, you will pick up some Italian phrases that can be used in erm ... various situations. I genuinely loved this book. Matteo's loss is our (and the author's) gain.
