About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Rizzoli & Isles return, in the nail-biting thriller from Sunday Times bestselling author Tess Gerritsen.

The murder of Sofia Suarez is both gruesome and seemingly senseless. Why would anyone target a respected nurse who was well-liked by her friends and her neighbours? As Detective Jane Rizzoli and Forensic Pathologist Maura Isles investigate the baffling case, they discover that Sofia was guarding a dangerous secret - a secret that may have led the killer straight to her door.

Meanwhile, Jane's watchful mother Angela Rizzoli is conducting an investigation of her own. She may be a grandmother, not a police detective, but she's savvy enough to know there's something very strange, perhaps even dangerous, about the new neighbours across the street. The problem is, no one believes her, not even her own daughter.

Immersed in the hunt for Sofia's killer, Jane and Maura are too busy to pay attention to Angela's fears. With no one listening to her, and danger mounting in her neighbourhood, Angela just may be forced to take action on her own...

Enjoyable story ruined by the narrator

Did not enjoy this narrator’s performance at all, weird gaps between words, and her pronunciation of any word following ‘to’ was weirdly grating.

Spoiled what was an otherwise decent book from Gerritsen; you know what you’re getting with her Rissoli and Isles series

Bad Narration

I couldn’t finish this book on audible as the narration pulled me out of the story. Lots of over pronunciation and the narration just generally felt very wooden and stilted.

Good but I'd rather listen to Lorelei King

Tess Gerritsen is a brilliant writer, I never get bored & the plots keep twisting perfectly. But why this narrator instead of Lorelei King? It took a long time to get used to Tanya Eby's oddly clipped delivery. She does sound as though she's computer generated & would be great at playing AI roles, but Lorelei King is so listenable, you forget you're listening to a book & feel more immersed in the story. Because of that & Tanya's inability (on the whole) to portray subtle emotions, I could foresee some plotlines but not enough to spoil it.
Still a great book & worth a listen, just check first if it's available with a different narrator.

Good but a little predicable

I enjoyed this audiobook. parts were a bit predicable but there were also plenty of surprises and getting a story mostly from Angela's perspective made a pleasing change.
Tanya Eby really did an excellent job with this performance. The characters were recognisable, her diction is clear and consistent.

A very poignant story

This story has a lot of twists to it, which makes it incredibly riveting. The story is flawless, bringing new people to weave into the storyline. The characters are believable, and all have reason to be in the story. Very well written, and brilliantly narrated.
